🏴☠️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Yo Ho, Yo Ho—A Perfect Ride for Me!
Pirates of the Caribbean is more than just a ride—it’s a legendary Disney experience that delivers atmosphere, storytelling, and swashbuckling adventure like nothing else in the parks.
From the moment your boat glides into the shadowy bayou and you hear that eerie tune drifting through the air, you're transported into a world of high-seas mischief, cannon fire, and treasure-hunting pirates. The level of detail is stunning—every flickering lantern, creaking timber, and splash of water immerses you deeper into this pirate-infested world.
The animatronics are nothing short of iconic, blending classic charm with modern enhancements (like the addition of Captain Jack Sparrow), all while maintaining the ride’s original magic. The scenes—burning towns, drunken pirates singing in the streets, treasure caves—feel like cinematic moments come to life.
And of course, the unforgettable theme song “Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me)” will follow you out of the ride in the best way possible—stuck in your head, like the call of adventure.
What makes this attraction so special is that it appeals to everyone—kids are wide-eyed at the spectacle, adults admire the craftsmanship, and longtime fans cherish the rich history tied to Walt Disney himself.
It’s dark, it’s mysterious, it’s playful, and it’s timeless. Pirates of the Caribbean is a must-do ride that truly captures the spirit of Disney magic and imagination.

Read moreThis has to be our favorite ride in the Magic Kingdom. It's the best theme of all. This was actually the last ride that Walt Disney helped in designing prior to his death. It's a classic! Also, the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise got its inspiration from this ride. Most of all, who can ever forget the singing of "A Pirate's Life for Me' by the Mellomen. There are sports teams that have adopted this song during their pregame show. We love the song and pirate theme here in Tampa Bay.
However, there have been many changes to this ride. It does seem darker than cartoony, and it's now more in line with the movie franchise. The likeness of Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow is so lifelike in person. It's almost creepy that they even use his voice in the audio-animatronic character.
There are a few small drops (or plunges), and you may get a little wet from water shooting from the right side of the boat. The famous Wicked Wrench in the battle scene is always the highlight of the ride.
The only disappointment is that you no longer get to see the stinky foot pirate on the bridge. What happened to the hairy leg? We looked at the bridge and immediately knew something was missing. Please bring back that stinky foot pirate!!! It has always been the most nostalgic part of the ride. It's odd that they removed it. Thankfully they still have the prison dog with the key chain in his mouth. It would have been tragic if they removed that. A visit to the Magic Kingdom would be amiss without experiencing Pirates of...

I love this ride but I am a little sad that the ride was updated for the kids by adding Capt Jack and Barbossa. These additions take away from some of the original magic of Walt Disney. Would Walt like this? I'm not sure. (How come we don't see Eddie Murphy in the haunted mansion? Oh yeah that movie bombed...I'm so happy it did...my haunted mansion is original and change free...I like that. I do like when they add Jack from Nightmare Before Christmas at Halloween though)
How many times has poor Carlos been dunked? And his wife is not very helpful. She keeps telling him to not tell the pirates and alluding to the fact that Carlos knows everything the pirates need to know. Carlos should just say please stop helping me.
When Barbossa says, "Fire at Will!". How does he know Will's name? Just a few of the hundreds of questions I have, while riding on this ride.
I also had to laugh that the ride attendant said we couldn't ride in the front of the boat by ourselves because it would flip. So we had to wait a few minutes for another couple. The funny part is that my wife and I have ridden in the boat several times by ourselves in the front and we have never flipped. Seems like someone was lying to us. In fact, 10 hours later I was in the boat in front by myself...guess what? No boat flip! Hmmm!!!
This is an amazing ride that has stood the test of time (even before adding Johnny Depp). It is always...
