Grandpa Joe's Candy Shop - Beaver, PA — Attraction in Beaver

We started going to Grandpa Joe’s in Beaver after the boys’ haircuts a few years ago and it became a fun, little tradition we all looked forward to. The candy selection is good. In the past year, we have taken the boys off artificial dyes (to the improvement of their health, moods, and behavior!), but if you stick to the European selection, you can still find candy to enjoy. Recently, however, we have all noticed the increase in products containing “adult humor”- swear words and lewd jokes. These types of items had always been there, but the quantity of them seems to have increased and you cannot help but see/read them. (They are on non-candy and candy alike, interspersed throughout the store.) My 12-yr-old son brought up how much seeing & reading these things bothers him. My 9-yr old son agreed. It bothers me too. It’s a tough enough battle keeping their young minds clear of this type of adult content in today’s world; I don’t need to (basically) put it in front of them by taking them to this candy store. So, we all agreed to start a different tradition that does not include Grandpa Joe’s. Perhaps the store owner could dedicate a space in the back for the adult humor toys/gifts, so that all the children who frequent the store would not be subjected to seeing them while in the front of the store choosing their...

HUGE variety for the tiny space... and they managed to make the atmosphere comfy rather than cramped. ^_^ I really didn't expect to find so much inside the small store, but was pleasantly surprised by the vast array of candies, soft drinks, and novelty items. I tried the Unicorn Yak from the Totally Gross Soda line... oddly delicious. My daughter wants me to try the Kitty Piddle. 😆 I think I will just stick with my personal favorites from the Jones Soda line. Either way, we will definitely drop by again... I absolutely love coming here when we visit Pittsburgh! I can’t stay in here too long or I will spend way too much money 😂. I’m a sweet tooth guy and love my candy! They also have some cool candy u can’t find anywhere else but here. Very unique soda flavors as well. I certainly am not daring enough to try the ranch dressing or the peanut butter jelly soda eww 😷. I wish they had this in Delaware closer to my house because I would definitely come...
