Monkey King Play Palace — Attraction in Beaverton

I was genuinely hesitant to post a review because my kiddo really does enjoy coming here. I've sat on this for over a week now and I'm still just so upset. We booked her 5th birthday party here on 4/8 - paid the $289 deposit for a party on 4/28. On Friday, 4/26 we decided to go in and ask if we can see the party room, talk about how it works, ordering food and drinks, etc. I even asked specifically if there's anything we need to do or know before we show up and was told nope. Everything was fine and then we showed up on Sunday about a half hour prior to the party, we gave ourselves an extra 15 minutes to order food and drinks for the rest of the guests as they told us the kids would have food ready when the party started. We showed up and they could not find the reservation, we were not allowed in the building until the hostess was given permission by the owner. We even asked to be let in just to order food and were told no. We even had our billing and email confirmation from them and they did not care. By the time we were even allowed inside, it was time for the party to start. We had no food ready, guests had to help us get the decorations up, we had to set up our own chairs and tables, we had no drinks, nothing. They were only staffed with 2 people and basically told us we were SOL and would just have to be patient for our food. Really lovely. By the time everyone arrived we still waited 45 minutes or so before the first pizza even became ready. The owner eventually showed up, did not offer to comp us anything to make up for the time we missed out on, did not offer a pizza, an apology, sodas, or anything at all. Including the deposit, with extra food and drinks and the kids, we spent about $700 here and a few of my guests spent even more money on top of that. We will not be booking any parties here ever again. And the fact that you cannot get a hold of anyone when you call by phone is really the cherry on top. We will be disputing the deposit portion with the credit card company. Especially now considering there are other reviews where they had an issue with their party reservation. Hate to leave this review but had an extremely uncomfortable experience here today. We have been here a ton. My kids love it. It’s overpriced but a good activity on a rainy day. The establishment doesn’t allow outside food and drink. I have a child we allergies and have always brought my own simple, pre packaged snacks. I’ve been approached once, explained that we have allergies and would not be eating the food they have there and have never had an issue. We went in today, we were the only people there, I gave my kids an applesauce, the owner approached us. I explained our situation and this just got him going on and on about lawsuits, and parent being high and drunk, and that he was going to have to close the place because kids were being poisoned while there. I stayed calm but he just kept going and going so we ultimately decided it was in our best interest to leave. My son was upset we were leaving as we had only been there for a short time, the owner started talking to my kids about poison in the food, I had to tell him not to talk to my children. Very weird and uncomfortable situation over a applesauce packet. The owner literally drove out the only customer of the morning. Super weird, and uncomfortable. Unfortunately will not be going back. The owner needs to take some classes in handling customers, compassion and tact.

Adding to this as well, the one time I did order food there for myself, it came out still frozen inside (potstickers). The staff remade it when I very nicely brought it to their attention and when the new one came out they were completely burnt. This was something I’ve never brought up because it wasn’t worth it but now that we’ve had the experience above I figured I’d add this as well.

Unfortunately, won’t be going back. Lots of options in the area, definitely chose one who actually cares about...

I’ve been going here consistently for three years now and let me just say it is an amazing place. The fun stretches for all ages, not just through the structures, but there are massage chairs for the adult adults to enjoy as well! If not just for my children’s enjoyment, the only other thing keeping me coming back is the atmosphere of this place. It’s an absolutely delightful experience every time we return. We come in pretty regularly every two weeks or so and it’s always the same young woman working. I asked for her name and she said it was Alexis. I’ve noticed every single time she always greets us with a smile and she remembers us every time. I’ve noticed she has remembered all the other customers that come in. She treats my children and the other children Ive seen like they’re her own, with extreme kindness and care. She is always helping everyone out efficiently and also taking care of the place as needed. Coming here truly is a very comforting, loving experience. That’s totally worth it! So thank you to the wonderful staff who this place worth coming back! The structures themselves are super enjoyable and I enjoy going in with my two kiddos. On top of all of this, they have a ton of food selection so even the pickiest of kiddos can enjoy something. This is 100% the definition of a family Feeling Business to me.
