Went with my daughter (5) to paint some pieces for Mother’s Day. It was our first time so I was hoping that based on all the positive reviews, we would be good to go! I really wish that was the case.
The employee who was there seemed to have a negative attitude from beginning to end and more or less seemed that we were inconveniencing them by just being there. I was just hoping that maybe they were just having a bad day and to just let it go.
We came back a week later for pick up and the same employee is there. We let them know our name for the order and the immediate attitude of inconvenience is given along with the rolling of the eyes. Thankfully, my daughter was oblivious, so that was one thing avoided!
Based on their hostile attitude, they made what should have been a fun and playful experience uncomfortable and upsetting. I really don’t do well with any type of conflict, so I couldn’t wait to get my daughter and leave. We will be finding somewhere else to try and have that fun experience that we were looking for the first time around.
I just hoped with the kind of money being spent, a little more appreciation and consideration would be given towards the customer. I’m glad that others had a positive experience and really hope that this was just a fluke towards us; no one else should be treated this way and have this kind...
Read moreBooked and paid for pottery wheel lesson online via their website. My wife and I show up the day of the lesson to be told the owner, who is the only teacher for the wheel was injured, and that they couldn't do the lesson that day. Okay no biggie, a little annoyed the place doesn't check their bookings, a courtesy call and/or email letting us know they couldn't honor our appointment would have been nice. Owners husband who was working the store that day took down our information, apologized and said they'd be in contact to reschedule. Ok no biggie again. We wait for like a week anticipating a call at some point, but the call never comes. We reach out to them to reschedule and pick a date that's about a month away. Cool. We show up on rescheduled appointment and again are informed they can't perform the wheel lesson. The owner while agreeing to the new date apparently never put us on the books. Asked and received a refund that went thru immediately. I would give 0 stars but can't. Only good thing was receiving an immediate refund. I want to support small businesses but That Pottery Place has terrible ownership/management. Would...
Read moreThe ceramics are extremely overpriced for the simplicity of their designs and size. Only a small, limited selection of ceramics is available to purchase. An elongated gourd style pumpkin with a simple Jack-O-Latern face was being sold at $120. Other pottery stores (both physical, and online) would be a fraction of the cost they are asking for at this store (this is including a shipping fee for an online purchase).
I was also told that they have no control over what they sell as they receive shipments, so you are not able to request any pieces. You find "vintage" style ceramics unless they are donated, and they choose to sell the item as told to me by the worker. The color selection of paints was basic, and limited.
If you want to say you painted a ceramic, and have no real interest in keeping up with the hobby, I would gather this store is for you. If you are serious about painting ceramics, I would encourage you to look at...
