While visiting family in North Carolina, we make sure that we rent a beach front property at Emerald Isle to relax for a week and enjoy the ocean breezes. We wake early and walk on the white sandy beach, stopping to catch the sun rise ... and then continue our shelling. There are exceptional panoramic views in each direction. We wade into the ocean and find the water ... bath tub warm. The next high tide will wipe out our tracks but the sand between our toes has left us with fond memories. Fresh fish, whether you surf cast on your own, go out on a charter, or visit the local fish market, there is snapper, grouper or Spanish Mackerel to take home and grill. Or you can visit one of the many restaurants that line the 17 miles of the Crystal Coast, relax, and watch a beautiful sunset from your table. Read moreThis is a great beach. It was easy to access, parking was tricky but I found a spot in front of a diner (probably illegal) and was able to walk to it in about 2-3 minutes. The beach itself wasnt crowded at all, everyone respected eachother's space and it was overall just a great vibe. As an introvert, I feel major anxiety about being around so many people especially strangers but it was actually pretty peaceful. There were families under beach canopies, friends sprawled across a huge beach towel, loners kicking back and simply watching the waves, couples jogging together etc. There is a board walk looking area to the far left and plenty of places to eat. Theres stores not too far away as well. Had no issues with birds, bugs or garbage in the sand. If and when I ever come back to NC, this will always be my...
Read moreWe really had a wonderful time, it's a beautiful beach, the atmosphere is good, but it would be nice if they fixed the area where everyone leaving the beach removes the salt, it's an unbearable bad smell, it feels like the water that comes out is recycled and comes back and comes in and comes back and goes, because it has a really bad smell if they charge $30 for five hours in the parking lot. Why don't they solve this problem? I've been three times and it's the same, I thought the first time it was something temporary, the second time too, but this is the third time and I have to say it, so they find a solution to that bad smell in that water to remove the salt from the beach.
