One of the best places to visit !! Emerald Isle, a town in North Carolina's Crystal Coast, is primarily known for its beautiful beaches, family-friendly atmosphere, and abundant vacation rentals. It's a popular destination for those seeking a relaxed beach vacation and is recognized for its pristine shoreline, various activities, and charming coastal if you go here to have to visit @Sol Bowls and many other restaurants #summervibes #emerladislenc #beauitfulday #oceanlife #oceanlover #summervlog

Edit: Mike the owner contacted us back the same day and was very upset that we didn’t have the best time we could. We had a great discussion with him and plan to visit again soon since overall, our visit was pleasant, the staff was kind/courteous, and we caught a good amount of fish by visiting this pier. Like I said in my original post, out of all the staff we only had the one encounter with the older man who was grumpy before getting to the end of the pier, and I understand when people get frustrated at work when people don’t listen to the rules of an establishment even though we were unaware of the ones we got yelled at for after our stuff was slung around. That wasn’t the way to handle it from a customer service stand point at all. We will be more mindful and now that we know about the cart being either centered or against the rails, we hopefully won’t have the same issue. I do think there needs to be a sign as you enter any way onto the pier to stop misunderstandings like this from happening but I’m thankful for the owner for being so kind and understanding when we talked with him. This being my first visit to the pier I looked over the guidelines on the outside of the building before going in where the ladies upon entering to pay to fish on the pier were wonderful. My group of 3 found a spot at the far end of the pier by the observation deck and pulled our cart to the side behind our chair leaving 8-ish feet of space between us and the other seat behind us to allow foot traffic. About an hour after we were there or more, an old male worker came grumbling along the pier, snatched our cart and dragged it to the middle without so much as a word asking us to move our cart further out of the path, nor explaining why he did it, and pulled our cart to the middle of the pier leaving 3-ish feet between it and both seats. We pulled it back cause we didn’t know what his problem was with the giant space behind us and when he passed back by he loudly complained about having “moved it for a reason”. A few minutes later he comes back by to empty trash cans and started arguing with my husband loudly and not explaining anything before snatching the cart again and very aggressively yelled at us about moving the cart to the center or against the rails so it wasn’t in the way. We were literally in the seat by the stairs up so having our cart in the center was more in the way than where we had it for foot traffic as people went to the observation deck or past us to the end of the pier. My husband walked back to use the rest room and saw three other groups that had carts set the same way and they weren’t yelled at or corrected after the old man left us alone. The old guy had continued to fuss and fume all the way back down the pier from when he did leave us. The staff are well aware of this particular staff member and stated that he “comes across rough”, but had it not been my husband and was someone with more of an attitude, he could have easily caused a fight with his rude behavior and throwing someone else’s property around. The staff members we spoke to also spoke to us about having another woman that “came across” the same way… so they knowingly employ rude people to work at the pier, knowing these people have an issue with their behavior. This was my first visit to the pier, and honestly, I don’t know that I want to come back if the man or anyone else is going to be that way and not just use their words to ask someone to follow the procedures that they have in place that aren’t posted ANYWHERE easily visible like all their others are. Trust me I looked. Two stars only cause the ladies inside were nice and we caught some fish. 🙃

The pier was a great way to spend a little time out of the water. We didn't do any fishing while there, but the store at the front of the pier sells licenses, bait, tackle, and everything else you could need for a day fishing. They also have rental gear that seemed to be a popular option for a lot of visitors when we were there. The store also sells the typical convenience store groceries, as well as some souvenirs unique to the pier. There is no cost to walk through the store and access the pier; however, the only way to get on the pier is to go through the store. Parking is free in the main lot. There were plenty of spots when we visited, but I could see it getting crowded at peak times. The pier, itself, is fairly simplistic. Just a typical wooden pier with wood pilings and planking. The walk to the end takes about 5 minutes. There's nothing to do on the pier, other than fish, watch people fish, or sit and take in the ocean views. The elevated observation deck at the end of the pier is worth the walk. You can see some serious folks fishing and, if you're lucky, you might get to see one fight a king mackerel, or bluefish. Giving it 4 stars mainly because we don't fish, and unless you're fishing, it's just not a 5 star kind of place. Absolutely worth the time spent to get a better look at the ocean without having to brave the waves, though.

We loved our trip to this pier! One particularly awesome feature is that the pier is open for 24 hours, along with the store. There are public bathrooms here that were clean and air conditioned. The people that were fishing were all kind, the experience was memorable. The beach was not too crowded the next morning. One recommendation is to have a way to power wash the railings and benches on the pier because they were pretty sticky and dirty with fish parts.. Update: We returned a few weeks later. The pier was still a wonderful experience. The next day, the parking lot and beach were MUCH busier than last time. 2025 update : I am going to knock it down one star because of a particular worker here. Also, we went in March, FYI bathrooms and pier aren't 24/7 until after April 15th.

BIP is my escape. Love night fishing. Feels like an entirely different world. I mean, you're gonna meet up with crazy on any pier also but it's different than when you want to slap someone at Wal-Mart. Like I said, BIP is my therapy. Super clean facilities. Restaurant, bathrooms, store & pier. Staff is helpful and friendly. Nice selection of snacks and drinks but of course you can bring a cooler too. I never have a bad time fishing. In the last few months I've caught Spot, Flounder, Croaker, Mullet, Ribbon Fish, Blue, Pompano, Sheeps Head, Black Bass, Shark from 1lb to 60lbs, Skate, Crab, Octopus and I'm forgetting a few. Shark fishing is not allowed but these guys will eat anything. It's only $12.50 for 2 rods or you can get a yearly pass for $250. Free walks :)
