They are very snoody. I have no better word for it. My husband (and occasionally I) have been in the Admirals Club at multiple airports. He has an AAdvantage Aviator (MasterCard) which does not include the membership to the Admirals Club, so he usually pays $50 for a day pass (since he does have an AA credit card) which includes a guest pass for 1 family member (me, his wife).
Instead of seeing his Aviator card and simply asking if we would like to purchase a day pass, the woman makes it a point to say âWe donât accept that card, we only accept the CITI card.ââŚand proceeds to make it a point to show her hand to their AA CITI card advertisement next to the desk in the most condescending manner (basically, youâre not good enough to enter this club since your card is âlesserâ than).
Once again, instead of simply asking if weâd like to buy a day pass, my husband had to be the one to say, âyes, Iâm aware, I would like to buy a day passâ, which was followed by her trying to charge us $59.99/person (we have NEVER had to pay that much and we have always, at multiple other club locations only paid $50 which included myself as a guest).
This is not to include the fact that there were FOUR workers at the four desks when we walked in, not a single one said hello when we walked in (they had no customers at the desk) and had to awkwardly stand there until ONE/FOUR finally acknowledged us. We were in normal clothes; maybe if we looked like bums I could understand a little, but the customer service we received was completely unacceptable. We travel all the time, usually on American since he does have an AA card and we are condescended for trying to PAY and enjoy the Admirals Club before our flight. Toucheâ, Iâll...
Read morePosting for a friend with her permission... A friend of mine had her flights from India to USA canceled, had to rebook, and when she landed in Boston was told she needed to leave the airport and couldn't stay in the terminal for her 12 hour layover (not her original layover). Thorough explanation was given about what happened with her ticketing, and eventually AA helped out with a room and shuttle.
Flash forward 12 hours.... my friend is sitting in the terminal waiting for a flight. She's requested a wheelchair for mobility issues, but she gets no wheelchair. She's got a large carry-on. She leaves it under her seat, goes to the bathroom while on the phone with her child, comes out and an AA employee has called the cops on her. Why? Because she left her carry-on bag under her seat while she went to the bathroom. If there was anything dangerous in it, TSA would've caught that.
Sorry American Airlines, you've been largely awesome but this salty bag did your business and my...
Read moreHorrible. Itâs a partitioned room now with a vending machine. As a full Admirals Club member, and as my AA flight had been delayed, I took a ride to terminal E and went to the BA Galleries Lounge instead. That place is what a lounge should be. Full bar (no coupon(s)), real buffet food from 5:15pm (real meals, cheese, desserts, salads), and sandwiches etc. the rest of the time, soft drinks in cans not from a drinks fountain, good service, plenty of seating, looks nice and has a shower too. Seriously, if you have time, you have a full Admirals Club membership (or youâre flying business or first internationally with AA), and youâre in an airport with another One World lounge, go there instead. The only reason I can see to justify retaining Admirals Club membership now is access to other One World lounges. Had enough of...
