Update: Pete (Owner) Called me in response to the review on a Saturday and was genuinely interested in making sure I felt that they had met my expectation and a net positive experience. He fit my car in that day, to complete the job to the best of their ability given my timeline and agreed to refund a portion of what I felt was unmet. He also explained how he saw room for improvement in communication in his shop, and would do his best to ensure this was a one-off experience.
While my experience has its bumps, Pete really went out of his way to make sure I left with a positive feeling about the experience. I think it says a lot for a business owner to go stand up when things go wrong, and I would recommend DC Customs.
My experience started off great, Joel was nice and said he could fit my car in for a full sound deadening within a week and they allowed me to drop it off a few days early while I had a ride home with a friend.
We reviewed the plan again when I dropped it off - which was to install sound deadening insulation in the entire car except the behind headliner (Joel explained that they do not do the headliner for liability reasons because of risk of causing a crease). I let him know that I had a hybrid and he said that would not make a difference and they would work around it.
They were true to original timeline (2.5 days) and when I showed up to pick it up, and got on the road I immediately noticed a very obnoxious rattling on the right side of the car. I immediatley took it back and since techs had already left, they said they would have a tech look at it in AM. I picked it up the next afternoon and Joel said they found a loose item under door panel and tightened a few things. The concerning rattling had been addressed. While test driving once more, I noticed a minor squeaks and rattle from the rear. Upon exploring I noticed that access trim parts around the spare tire well and that I could still see bare metal throughout the spare tire well. This was unexpected.
I had been very clear from the beginning that the most important areas to be addressed from the beginning was the entire cargo area and rear passenger doors. I had even explained reason I wanted to pay for the service was I couldn’t figure out how to remove the trim around the spare tire and realized this was not in my capacity for DIY. The language was very clear from the beginning that this was a full car (except headliner) service.
I took it back and at first was told the cargo floor was not included in the quote. Despite, us explicitly discussing getting the floor of the cargo area and the service being described as the full car (except headliner). At first I was told it would take another 3-4 hours, and charge me another half day, then he said he’d do it as a part of the original charge. About 2 hours later they said my car was ready. I came back and picked it up and notice ledges around the spare tire well had not been completed.
I had no desire to return a 3rd time and confront them at this point and left the...
Read moreUpdate to past review below. 08/29/2019. The store director Garrett called me the next day after reading my review below and wanted to discuss my experience with his team, he wanted to know how he could improve. After talking we both agreed that there was a miscommunication between us and was likely do the audio event they were having in the parking lot. After discussing my experience, Garrett wanted to refund my ceramic tint, I insisted that I didn't mind paying for the service and the product that was provided. Garrett pushed for me to at least come in and get a reduced price and I obliged. I must reiterate that the tint is very nicely done and looks good. The customer service is exceptional and they clearly strive for greatness in both product and customer care. I will gladly recommend them to those who are seeking any custom work for their vehicle.
Got my truck tinted over this past weekend , I stopped by on my way home from Lowes to see what there pricing was for window tinting. The salesmen in the parking lot told me he could do the Ceramic tint for $199.00. That price sounded about right for a tint, when I come into the office the guy a the counter told me that the Ceramic was $299.00 and that the regular tint was $199.00. I told the guy at the counter that the salesman, who was at the counter with us, told me the Ceramic was $199.00. The salesman didn't say a word backing my claim. At that point I was committed mentally to getting my truck tinted that day and it was $100.00 more for the better tint so I went with it. Than they told me that it would take 90-120 minute to get the tint done. I couldn't sit for that long as I had things to do at home. They gave me a ride home which, was awesome. However, it took them 4 hours to get the tint done and they didn't bother to wash the outside windows which, I thought they would do to help their product look its best upon first inspection. When I came to pay for the service, the same salesman who gave me the false quote failed to inform me that I would have to pay the 2 percent fee if I use a credit card. I called him out on it and he said he must have forgotten to tell me. He offered split the fee with me but it was a six dollar charge so I just absorbed it. The tint is really nice and the staff is nice and very warm but the lack of clear communication on pricing and timing was a huge downside for me using DC customs. This may have been an outlier for them as I have heard great thing about them from friends and my bed linear guy...
Read moreI don't know how this place stays in business with such incompetent staffing! I took my car here to get tinted on Sept. 4th, all the windows looked fine. On Sunday the 6th. I noticed the front driver side window tint was peeling at the bottom near the tweeter and another window in the back passenger side had some bubbling I had a question about. I took it back in on Friday Sept. 11th and told them which windows needed to be fixed, they ended up fixing the front passenger side window and the back passenger side window. To my surprise the driver side window still was not touched. I called and asked for the owner that same day, Josh seemed to empathize with what was going on and asked that I bring my car in today, Sept. 14th during lunch to get it fixed, I called before hand to make sure I could have it done within my lunch hour and they said yes. I took it in today and waited in the office. It only took about 30 minutes to fix, but when I got my car back I noticed that instead of fixing the front driver side window, they fixed the back driver side window, which had nothing wrong with it in the first place!!!! I took my car back 3 times and they still could not fix what I had asked. I will never be bringing my business here again. Nor will I ever refer anyone I know in fact I will guide them away from bringing their business to this poor excuse of an...
