If cleanliness and maintenance matter to you, avoid the 24 Hour Fitness located at 5961 Lone Tree Way in Brentwood, CA at all costs. From the moment you step inside, you'll immediately notice layers of dust and countless dust bunnies scattered everywhere. The locker rooms appear neglected, with obvious signs they haven't been swept or cleaned regularly. For instance, a messy floor covered in baby powder-like mess was in the men's locker room when I arrived and was still there roughly an hour and 20 minutes later when I left, showing that the floor gets cleaned less than once per hour... Walking barefoot is simply out of the questionâthe floors are filthy, and you're better off not risking what you might step in.
The showers are also absolutely revolting, cluttered with trash, suspicious fluids, several have such low water pressure that you can't even shower in them, and some emit a foul smell that makes it hard to believe they're cleaned with any regularity. The steam room doesn't fare much better as the floors are inexplicably covered in damp dust bunnies, creating a grimy, unsanitary environment that defies common sense. These areas are supposed to promote wellness, but instead, they make you feel dirtier and uncomfortable.
The equipment situation here is equally disappointing. Numerous cardio machines are outright broken, and the few functioning machines available are clearly neglected and in various states of disrepair. The so-called cardio area is oddly under-equipped, with far fewer machines than the ample space would comfortably accommodate. This all shows an obvious lack of attention to the gym members' needs, suggesting management is disinterested or simply indifferent to cleanliness.
Staff at this location seem to prioritize membership sales above all else, seldom leaving the front desk except for occasional, lackluster attempts at superficial cleaning with a dust mop. True cleaning efforts are glaringly absentâexcept, curiously, at the front desk and sales floor, where protein bars and powders are prominently displayed. Having visited numerous 24 Hour Fitness locations throughout the bay area, several In-Shape Fitness centers, and other gyms in Texas and Montana, this location is unquestionably the worst I've experienced. It's astonishingly run-down, unacceptably dirty, and thoroughly neglected. My wife and I, despite living nearby, will gladly drive further to Antioch or even Walnut Creek to avoid this filthy, poorly...
Read moreThis place is pretty busy the times I have been but there seems to be enough equipment both cardio and weights, to go around. The staff at the desk are friendly and helpful. The only reason why I'm giving it only 2 stars is the same reason why everyone else has given a low star rating - cleanliness and maintenance. This place never gets cleaned. With all the sweat that hits the floor..... Eewww. I can only imagine what's growing here. Maybe a student should come in here and do a science fair project on what kind of bacteria calls this place home. Is it as bad as fast food and restaurant ice machines? And it's ceiling to floor. Very visable dust on the HVAC ducts, black streaks coming from the supply vents means the HVAC system has been run without a filter... COVID anyone? There's visible dirt, hair, ect.. caked into the floor mats and around all of the equipment. It's like they never have a cleaning crew come through here. Is it 24 Hour's policy to not clean, then after a handful of years close the place and remodel? I've been to plenty of gyms over the years and they usually are pretty clean, so what's up with this one? The one place that seems ok is the pool area. I haven't been in the pool but I've walked through a number of times and the place doesn't have a strong chlorine smell which means people aren't peeing in the pool, lol. Curious about what I mean, just Google it. Maybe the pool is the only thing getting cleaned on a regular basis. I have higher hopes for this gym and the chain as a whole. Prioritize...
Read moreTo begin, I only leave positive reviews, however my experience was worth less than a star. Recently went in to get a 3 day membership, clubs was slow in middle of the afternoon. Person at front desk was helping someone else, no problem.
10 minutes went by, not one acknowledgement from the person at the front desk. She was signing someone else up, and while the customer was inputting information, she was on her phone. Not once did she look up and say, "Be Right with you".
Finally got the notice of a friendly coach who pointed me to the computer to start the process. Why person at front desk couldn't have said this and helped the person at the same time???
Waited another full 5 minutes and finally spoke up. She rudely replied, "I am helping someone else". At this point, another coach notices and comes to help. I mention I really would have just like to have been acknowledged, I don't mind waiting, just stating, "will be with you shortly".
Not only did 2nd coach ignore what I said, he thanked the robot at the front desk and then dismissed me with a "have a great friday" at the top of his lungs.
WOW. WOW. WOW.
Yes, I was profiled. I am a middle aged white woman. Instead of listening to what I said, saying "Oh sorry" we will be right with you, he dismissed me like I was some "Karen", and my name is Karen. He treated me as if I was the rude one, never acknowledged my concerns, didn't listen when I said I don't mind waiting. Nothing. I was dismissed and shamed.
What a bunch of jerks. Customer...
