
Julian, the assistant manager, is extremely disrespectful, discriminatory, and outrageously nasty towards my daughter and I. I've literally been to many Planet Fitness locations across different states and I've never experienced such mistreatment.
On 2 separate instances, Julian treated me like a criminal and subjected me to despicable treatment at check-in, disallowing me access to a gym franchise that I've been part of for several years.
Management and corporate, please protect yourselves, this franchise location, and the Planet Fitness brand by investigating this matter. I encourage you to review the video/audio footage of Julian's behavior towards my daughter and I. He deliberately embarrasses us in front of other members at the check-in desk and makes us step aside to assist other members that came in after us, making us wait.
1st incident: I checked my daughter and myself in and then left to run an errand next door and Julian demanded that I needed to check in again. I had told him that I just checked in with his staff member and to speak to him. He said that it doesn't matter who I spoke and that I needed to check in again. He failed to find my active account and claimed that my account was inactive. Then his coworker showed him how to find my account, then they finally allowed me access. Julian did not apologize for his mistake and then proceeded to fault me for being unsure if I had 2 accounts. I'm really in shock at the level of harassment I had to endure at check-in and not quite sure why I'm subjected to having to check-in twice within the same hour.
2nd incident: This past Wednesday evening, I tried checking in with my phone # because my phone was left at home. This girl with fake eyelashes disallowed me access and allowed my guest, my daughter, access because she had a guest pass on her phone. I'm not sure her logic in denying me access because my daughter's guest pass is a guest pass off my active account. I insisted that she call my home gym on Knott to verify my membership, she refused. I then took off to run errands asking both her and Julian to work out my membership verification while I was away so I can easily check-in upon my return. They didn't. They again asked for my phone # after the nth time and then made me wait to be verified by my home gym. Even after my home gym's staff confirmed my membership, they would not let me in and Julian wanted to check again on his computer. After I was finally checked in, his direct report was sent into the bathroom to spy on me while I was getting dressed. How intrusive! She walked in to look for me, said nothing to me once she found me, then walked out. Upon leaving, the same staff member was gossiping about me to a female manager. This is wrong, demeaning, and beyond inappropriate in every way.
If you want to take a chance on being belittled and minimized, then this is the gym for you! I'm a Vietnamese single mother in my late 30s that primarily uses the gym to shower. I often leave my phone in the car because I don't bring a lock to secure my belongings. I check in using my phone #. If any of these characteristics or behavior describes you, then you've been warned, you may be subjected to the same discriminatory treatment and practices.

She says she doesn't remember him & ask how he got in the gym in the first place ( might i add my fiance is covered in tattoos & i have bright purple hair , not quite the appearance you forget instantly in my mind) he tells her that she checked us in & he was with me & that i had the cards in the bathroom, she still doesn't believe him & says whatever & lets him in the bed anyways, i finish my shower come out to here this story from my fiance & as we leave he shows her his blackcard to prove hes was not lying & we continue to leave & we both hear her say something under her breath & laugh. My fiance turns around to ask her what she said & she yells "I SAID BYE!!" very rudely. So my fiance walked back in to ask for her name. & she says with pure attitude "uh its Jasmine! With an E!" Then flips her hair turns her back to him , i see her roll her eyes & laugh to her co workers as they try to ignore her & the whole situation. I am standing at the door way watching, she gave me a bit of side eye but wouldn't look at me, just continued her attitude & trying to laugh about us with her co workers. I know this review wont get anything done , thats why both my fiance & i will continue to talk to the managers & cooperate about this situation. Only if the Area Manager would respond to my email that would be nice! It must also be nice to be an Area Manager collecting fat pay checks and not doing your job like addressing customer complaints!
UPDATE! Downgraded rating to one (1) star. Went-in in person back in June 2020 to cancel my membership due to Covid-19. 2 months later, I still got automatically charged for the renewal, and another charge for the following month. Went back to the club, again, in person around second week of Oct 2020, and again, cancelled my membership and asked for a refund of the two charges. I was told to come back 2 days later when the Manager is in. Went back 2 days later only to be told by the Manager that he had to check their video recording to confirm that I was physically in the club the first time to cancel my membership. My check-in history clearly shows I checked-in in June when I went in to cancel my membership, but he wanted to confirm my visit with the video recording. The Manager said the video recordings can only go back as far as late August, so he could not confirm that I was physically in the club that day. His advised was to email the Area Manager, which I did. More than two weeks had past and I still haven't heard back from the Area Manager. Sending complaint to corporate!
4 1/2 stars. I love this particular location not only because it is brand new, but also being only 6 minutes away from my place. I rated this location 4 1/2 stars due to some of the less enthusiastic staff members that aren't as welcoming as other staff members. I understand not everyone was born naturally and be comfortable greeting people enthusiastically. As the staff learns from their day to day routine, I'm sure this location will be packed with positive energy and heartwarming staff members. I would highly recommend...
