I went in to grab a few items before heading home from work. I walked into your store and was approached by your manager(not sure of her name but she is in her late 50’s and wears glasses) because I walked in with a bag from the dollar store. She told me I had to put it in a locker because I couldn’t carry it around the store. I handed her my bag and took the number she gave me. As I walked around the store I noticed many other women were carrying their bags around the store. I am African American and these other women carrying their bags were all Caucasian. This made me so upset I just grabbed one thing and hurried out. At the check stand I told the manager that next time she tells me to lock my bag she needs to make everyone do it. She told me it’s a store policy and everyone’s bags get locked up. I told her I saw other women carrying their bags. I told her I was offended that she asked me to check my bag and I felt like she did it because of the color of my skin. She insisted no one had bags but she will check. The cashier apologized several times Even though he has nothing to do with it.
I sent this to the store owner and he has not responded at all. This incident happened two weeks ago. Clearly, racism is...
Read moreI Have shopped Grocery Outlet stores for years. Always a fun delight. Having moved, I'd not been in *this particular store for a long time. The time and date were fabulous for shopping. So many pre-season/holiday specials and treats make it are hard to resist. Many of the sale prices make them "Gift Worthy". for others and for your home.
As in the past, the prices on shopped for items were mostly agreeable. With many seasonal specialties plus more sales on regular home goods and other merchandise. It was hard to resist. Along with all the variety and value for this time of year. the G.O. stores are overflowing with merchandise. A plus time to go. Shop from farm goods to freezer, snacks, protein, gifts, soups, spices, merch, or holiday treats. You can find many a great dessert (or two) to go. Holiday specials and/or the general restocking of household goods. A little of that something for almost anyone. A bought a lot but, no regrets on any of my choices. Give yourself the gift of any G.O. experience. You have to see it to get the savings. A real eye opener for the novice. A great money saver for the party giver. For frugal or not, Happy...
Read moreThe first few times, i loved it. It was the nicest, best stocked Grocery Outlet id even visited. Then, i began to notice the shelves werent being restocked. On my last visit, there wasnt much that i wanted/needed/could justify buying; i picked up some eggs and milk, a candle, a package of meat, some conditioner, and a small handful of odds and ends, each carefully selected for price. When the cashier rung me up, my barely full grocery bag was NINETY-EIGHT DOLLARS. anyone who shops grocery outlet knows ninety-eight bucks buys quiiiiiiite a bit of groceries.
Not willing to pay a hundred bucks for what shouldve been about fifty dollars worth of goods.
I did something that day that ive never done before, i walked away from my groceries at the checkout counter. From there, i drove to QFC. i bought three packages of meat, far more groceries, toilet paper, and booze. I left with three, packed-full bags of groceries. I got more than i needed and more than triple what id tried to buy at grossout. My total: $108.00
It's no-brainer. I will NOT return to Grocery Outlet. Why drive all the way into Burien to buy more...
