We climbed Mt. Battie from.thr trailhead outside the park entrance, which is in the city. It warns you that you will be scrambling on rocks, and you will be. It is quite steep, and there are mostly rock boulders. This is not for the meek. In the misty rain it was slippery. I would suggest you have on running shoes or boots with good traction. My guess is that the view is great, but it was super foggy. Also they have the tower at the top closed, which was disappointing. We worried about the steep climb down, so instead did the mesalands and nature paths down. However, it is a lot longer. It was a very lovely hike on nice trails through the woods. It is a beautiful park, and you get the added bonus of blueberries bushes along the way. This is really worth the effort to hike.

A great quick hike up to the Tower. Trail is rocky and steep in places. A good challenging quick scramble but not a good one on a rainy day as it could prove to be slick. The sites from the top and tower are 360 beautiful. The history behind the tower is interesting. If not up for a challenging hike, drive up and take a short walk to the tower and views.

Parking lot looks like it is someone's house but just keep driving and there is a small lot. Hike was not that bad, took me about 10 minutes up but I'm a fitness enthusiast and rucker. Lots of mosquitos. I enjoyed climbing up the rocks. Nice view of the town but the tower was closed. If I lived here, I would go up here often.

Beautiful forest with mountainous access to Mount Battie - but don't make the mistake we did if you are not a climber in appropriate footwear. This trailhead carpark is NOT the main access point for Mount Battie. It's free to park and you can certainly take a steep but rewarding hike up to the top from here. However, like us, if you have kids with you or are in less than appropriate footwear, drive to the State Park main entrance, pay the $12 entrance fee, and drive up or walk on their...

Beautiful hike but difficult. It is very steep at times. Make sure you have shoes with good tread or you will have trouble getting your footing on some of the stone. I would only recommend this trail if you hike often or you are in good shape. We went up and then walked down the road to get back because going down the steep areas was scary for us (having to kind of slide down...
