When my husband and I had planned our vacation it was our plan to stay at Clint Eastwoods Mission Ranch in beautiful Carmel by the Sea. Unfortunately they did not have any rooms . We were informed that they had another property called The Homestead Inn that did have availability so we decided to make the reservation. ||||After a long drive from Napa Valley (disappointment) which included hazardous conditions due to the storm we arrived and from that moment on our trip took a turn for the best.||||Take in mind their website does not do them justice. This is a small property with about 10 rooms. My husband and I started to have our doubts until we met Shayna.|||| Not only did she welcome us with a smile she went out of her way to help us carry our luggage to the room, helped us find a restaurant that was pet friendly, and stood outside to hold a parking space so my husband would not have to walk very far.||That kind of service is hard to find these days.||||The rooms were recently remodeled with a country home setting. And for being located in Carmel by the Sea (other rooms go for $300+) the price was a steal.||||The only downside was we were not able to meet Clint.(I'm a big fan) ||We found a treasure on our trip to the coast that we will return to again and again.||Thank you Mr. Eastwood and thank you Shayna for making our...
Read moreRustic room = old. I will say it was very clean. I didn’t get to peek at what a remodeled room looked like. ||Pros - nice location in the neighborhood. We didn’t have a problem parking. You can walk to shops, restaurants and the beach easily.||The older room was clean. ||Check in was easy and reception was friendly and helpful.||||Cons - bed caved in the middle. No headboard, and with bed against the window we hit the blinds to sit up to read or watch the tv.||TV was terrible. No sound on local channels, Very slow response with remote.||While very clean, the mini kitchen and bathroom are just old. Basic supplies in kitchen area. No cooktop, ( we didn’t need it anyway ) just small fridge and microwave. Sink and some dish ware.||In the end... you do get what you pay for. Good location and friendly service, but a really old room. We were not surprised as we read prior reviews, but I wouldn’t...
Read moreWe stopped here for one night on our way south on the Pacific Coastal Highway. The room was absolutely fabulous, large, well appointed, clean and very comfortable. Its location was great, withing a short walk of the beach and downtown. We were a little disappointed in the breakfast which is served at its sister hotel, the Mission Ranch requiring a short drive. The drive was not an issue since we were traveling to church since it was Easter Sunday. The selection of food for breakfast was disappointing, you would think that for locations taking such pride and care to make your stay special they could do better than a continental breakfast. I give the Inn a strong 5 stars, the breakfast is a 3 at best. Overall there score should be 4.5. We would still recommend the inn if you are...
