I stumbled upon a hidden gem this week in Carmel-by-the-Sea: a local Big Sur small business that has opened a magical storefront apothecary and has completely stolen my heart! 💚✨ From the moment I stepped inside, and again when we started talking, I knew I was in for a treat.

This enchanting store is a celebration of botanical health and beauty, with an array of natural remedies, aromatic essential oils, and luscious skincare products. I ended up hanging around for a bit and talked with Bonnie, the owner and creator, about her intentional long-view approach to creating her products and our shared interest in growing a larger botanical/herbal community in Monterey.

🛒What I got: I got the Stress Relief sniff stick and the Headache mini roller for my partner. The stress inhaler is more than “lemon and orange smells”, it has something else underlying those atypical “stress relief” smells which makes me actually feel relaxed. Rosemary perhaps? (She has her ingredients listed on the product and her website.) And for the headache relief, I also smelled extra smells in her blend from other headache blends I’ve tried over the years. Not quite sure which ingredient it is (havent smelled all the smells solo before), but all her ingredients are listed.

🗒️ Note: She said that I could reuse the inhaler once the essential oils dried out (but it’s good for 1 year) - I love reusable products and when the creator has that in mind. #reducereuserecycle...

She takes her time with each and every visitor answering questions and educating with a genuine desire to create an understanding of the physical and spiritual benefits of each ingredient in her products, making the experience individually unique. You can always trust that everything she creates is conscious, free of chemicals, locally and ethically sourced, and made with pure intention and purpose.

I visited this lovely little store while traveling in the area for a conference. The owner, Bonnie, and I discussed some red patches I have had on my face and nostrils forever. Nothing seems to clear it up for long. After a brief discussion of my overall health and well-being, Bonnie recommended the Skin Salve and Rose Toner. The results have been far better than I could have ever hoped for. My face has never looked better! The red patches began clearing up almost immediately, something I had not seen after using either aquaphor or cortisone ointments for months. I am so pleased! I love the Rose Toner and use it all the time nowadays so I decided I better stock up on another bottle. And I'm trying another variety for daytime use in the office. I can't recommend this store and her well-made, hand-crafted products enough....
