My wife has been shopping at GBG for probably 25 years — every time we visit Carmel, it’s always been one of her favorite stops. Unfortunately, after our last experience, I’ll never step foot in the store again.
We’ve been married for 41 years, and over that time, I’ve learned what looks great on my wife and what styles might not flatter her as much. During this visit, I was sitting in the chair outside the dressing room while she tried on clothes. She would come out to show me, and I would give my honest opinion — sometimes “that looks great,” and other times a gentle suggestion that something else might look better.
What caught me off guard was the sales associate’s comments toward me. She said things like, “Do you wear things that she doesn’t like?” and “Sometimes we wear what we like to wear.” I found that very disrespectful and inappropriate, especially as I was simply supporting my wife as I’ve done for decades. I didn’t want to embarrass my wife, so I quietly got up and left the store.
I also sent an email to the owner explaining the situation but never received a response. After so many years of being loyal customers, this experience was disappointing and left a lasting...

You can walk into any store and look around, grab a few things, maybe try them on and buy something, but from the minute you walk into GBG, it’s an experience. I equate it to the scene in Pretty Woman (the friendly store) where they are pulling things off the racks, bringing them to the dressing room for you to try on, and here’s the best part…you walk out of the dressing room and they are right there ready to style you. Just by tweaking a few things here and there with how it sits on your waist, rolling up sleeves, popping a collar, adding jewelry and shoes, they are right there to adjust, suggest and help you decide. Highly recommend, especially if you need...
Read moreSweet Pea is an honest and smart boutique owner. If you try on a $300.00 pair of pants and it makes you look fat, she will tell you so and possibly lose a $300 sale. But, she knows all her inventory, and is always adding more, and will more likely find you something at either Girl Boy Girl or Paloosh that will make you look beautiful. All her customers adore her and her staff. I shop there all the time. She carries dozens of well-known and international brands. George Fusco, Carmel...
