Totaled the last computer we brought them.
We took 3 computers to them total over the past several months, all needing a new charging port soldered on.
The first repair went alright. They left a charging cable disconnected when they closed it back up, had to take it back for them to hold it a bit longer, then they gave my charger away to another customer and I had to wait a week to get it back. Whole process took way longer than necessary, but the repair is still holding up well.
The second computer we took to them went fine. No weird issues, came back working and charging correctly. Good repair.
The third computer is the kicker. We gave it to them, and they held it about a week while waiting for the port to come. We pick it up a few days later, and they have to tell us that because they bent the motherboard, the charger doesn't fit in straight to the computer anymore, that we have to tilt the plug up and pry the port down to the hole to fit it in. It wasn't like that before, and they wouldn't have had to tell us it was like that now unless they had bent the board themselves. The rgb ring on the bottom of the computer is also half out now.
I take it home and open it up myself. This is not the first time I have opened this device, so I know how to get into it without damaging anything. They have glued the ribbon cables into for the lower rgb ring into the ports. These cables need to come out to separate the bottom cover from the board, so they clearly weren't betting on anyone getting back in. We seal it back up and try to boot it, and the thing works fine on battery. When we plug it in, the entire computer is stuttering just running, even in the file explorer. The computer can barely run Windows while charging, much less play a video game. We benchmark the computer, and every single component now runs 4 times slower while charging than when on battery. Clearly the port or the board is damaged.
We only use it for gaming, so it has to be plugged for us to use it. We take it back, tell them all that is wrong, and they hold it another two weeks to try to fix it. We get the call last night, and they confirm the board is busted from being bent. The board is basically as expensive to source and replace as buying a new computer, so it is totaled.
My girlfriend goes back in today to pick it up, and spends 20 minutes trying to discuss this situation with them. They refunded us for the original repair charge (160-170$), but we took a computer to them for repair, and 3 weeks later, we get it back and we're unable to use it for the one thing it was doing. They totaled a 1000$ machine, and it will now cost us at least 1000 to replace it. We didn't expect them to give us full retail cost back for the computer, nor the full amount needed to replace it, but just refunding the initial repair is wholly insufficient for how long they kept our machine, and for the amount of damage they did to it. We would have at least appreciated some compensation for the amount of time we were without the device, and for the fact that the complete opposite of a repair has...
Read moreMy wife bought and did over $700 in business in a 3 week period- needless to say.. we trusted them.. only to find out the hard drive them supposedly fixed NEVER DID! The same issue happened. They claim 90 day warranty but owner “out of country”, “can you pick up later”— excuse after excuse. Finally pick it up- ship to grandsons - NO WORK WAS EVER DONE! They packaged a hard drive (replaced) but same error was in DOS mode! I hv receipts- went to ask them said I needed to pay entire thing over! We were told by IT professional work was never completed and switched parts. As I was told they buy used and second hand parts from companies in Raleigh from companies who get new computer equipment- THIS IS WHY THEY SAY- 90 day WARRANTY- after that- it is a RAP! They charge KEYSTONE off bandaid fix or buy time until problem reoccurs. THEY DO NOT HONOR patronage- especially when you try and support small business in economy! Was told OWNER wld call- never did! ABSCONDED with money and no work! You wld think they wld REMEDY this- absolutely not! We paid CASH..they encouraged - you know why? Because I know they are probably stating that they purchase new parts when indeed these are USED PARTS- and try & cover up with Warranty! Trust me- IRS, BBB and NC Tax have been notified. Never burn and do honest people wrong especially if you DONT KNOW WHAT CONNECTIONS people have in the community. KARMA.. you put on a show but PRINCIPLE and integrity of earning trust should NEVER BE COMPROMISED! Signed: Until justice is served..!! Read moreI came to this place to get my brother's tablet fixed. It took them a long time to get it repaired. Finally, they fixed my brother's tablet (after waiting for more than 4-5 weeks). The day of the pick up, I decided to buy a monitor.
Three days later, the tablet was not working again, so I came back to this place, and I also decided to return the monitor because I didn't need it anymore.
I told the man that was there that the tablet was not working and that I wanted to return the monitor. Guess what he did? He literally screamed at me. He got really upset and gave me a really bad attitude. I paid about $125 for the monitor. After returning it, I got less than $100 (he charged me a fee of about 25%). He also said that the tablet was working fine and that I probably did something to it. After taking a look at the tablet, he said, "I'm going to fix it but you have to pay again because now, it is a different problem."
As a business student and someone who has years working in the customer service industry, I felt humiliated and mad for the way he treated me. I decided to just let it go. I smiled and grabbed my brother's tablet and I left.
I will not be coming back to this place ever. Also, whoever "fixes" electronics is...
