When you live on the Central Coast of CA, you get spoiled with all the many beaches. Since we have so many, you get either tourists, or a few locals. The beach has a pier which has an interesting history since it established Cayucos as a transit and shipping point early on. The Vets Center used to be a warehouse for the pier and then a community center, which is being restored. The beach has facilities/ bathrooms, and playground equipment. The views are nice, but the water is rough and cold, so if one wants a safer beach, that would be Avila. This small town does have a modest number of places to eat, but the stand out is Cayucos Sausage & Deli, which boasts homemade eats. As a pit stop along the way from the Big Sur /San Simeon area down to SLO itself, it is a decent choice, but nearby Morro Bay has more to offer. Cayucos, Morro Bay, Baywood, and Los Osos sort of merge to make a really nice area to explore along the coast, with all sorts of obvious or hidden places to discover and explore...like a dwarf forest...

We were taking the scenic road from LA to SF and decided to make a stop at this beach. It was a great decision. The beach is stunning: great wooden pier that goes long into the sea, cozy benches along it, sandy beach, but most importantly beautiful sandy beach, awesome ocean, majestic hills in the background.

There is a free parking opportunity, a bunch of shops, a gas station, several food places. The place also had a public toilet which was free, clean and overall decent.

The place was not crowded but also not empty, people around were friendly and polite. Seems like a paradise for surfers - there were plenty of them.

The beach had some Christmas decorations, which created a pleasant mood.

Overall it is an awesome...

I've been going there for nearly 40 years. I believe it especially because it is enough niche Beach if you like to serve they are always surfers over there. You can sit on the beach and if you get hungry you can just walk to the restaurant which are anywhere from 50 to 200 feet something good to it. It is a nice family if you have kids there is a swing set for children. The restrooms are nice and clean. If you like to do some antiquing there are four large antique stores walking distance. Like I said I absolutely love this town. If you apply to come during July it has one of the biggest 4th of July parades the fireworks are also...
