First, let me start by saying that the staff was super friendly and welcoming. No complaints there. Also, they give you clues, which is nice. My only complaint about the clues though, is they eventually flat out plane give you the answer. That's no fun!!
This was my 2nd time attending an escape room. The first one I went to was hands down amazing! In comparison, this one was extremely under par.
First, I was very unimpressed with the "room". This outfit is located in a shopping mall and the room clearly used to be a small office in its past life. And I mean small!!! I was a party of 2, and thank goodness because more than 3 would have been a super crowd. And it had just a regular office door that did not close tightly, which was pretty annoying when writing on the back with chalk. And messy!!
Second, there is ZERO effort when it comes to the "scenery". It literally was an office, with black office looking pull blinds, and nothing making you feel like your in the imaginary situation your supposed to be playing in. Very blank walls. The room we were in had a beat up used office desk and a couple of used cabinets with drawers and 1 cabinet hanging on the wall. All looked to be bought from a yard sale or thrift store.
Third, the game didn't flow like it should. We accidentally skipped one clue and moved on to others, and they had to redirect us back to the one skipped because we got stuck later. Also, they are all mostly puzzles for combinations, instead of hidden things. Not as much fun without the scavenger part involved!
To conclude, for the price point ($28 per person), they should put in the effort to give you an awesome experience, all around.
The other escape room I attended was all out. The room was decorated all out, to look exactly like the scene we were playing in, with cool black light only visible clues, things under things, trap doors with things in it, full on prop furniture, dimmed lighting, sound effects, a live actor, and a really cool ACTUAL locking door with 6 locks and 6 hidden keys. It was smooth and impossible to move onto one clue without solving the one before. They also gave you a bottle of water in the lobby while you waited. Such a small thing, but made you feel like you got a little more for your money, and all at the same price point! Unfortunately, they are temporarily closed right now (The Great Room Escape).
Now, I don't know about the Havana location as I visited the Yosemite one. We did the Spy Ops room.
Sorry for the novel, but for 2 at $56 dollars for 1 hour of entertainment, I feel your money would be better spent on a puzzle at home. I'm being brutality honest here, but we work hard for our money and you should know what...
Read moreActually came to this escape room twice, once for Clue Done it and the second 1893. I didn’t escape both of them which is quite disappointing especially being a solo player who has solo cleared many rooms across Colorado. This location doesn’t have solo player friendly rooms which is quite disappointing. I was told many of the rooms would be possible as a solo player and was warned that some of the rooms I wouldn’t be able to complete on my own given it would require at least two people. I would like to note that I was told each of the two rooms I did WERE possible as a solo player which I question the authenticity of that statement I’ll be honest. Upon my return trying to redeem myself, after Clue Done-it, I had originally gone to complete Monstrum. However I was told that it had been oversold somehow AFTER I had paid for the ticket. I didn’t receive a call or anything that stated the error. I was then offered to complete 1893 which has a cool backstory indeed! However the room was missing pieces, one of which virtually made it impossible to complete without a hint which gave away the answer. The puzzles are clearly very well thought out but are extremely difficult to complete and I had a very hard time wrapping my head around each puzzle. If you like a virtually impossible challenge, solo one of these rooms. I would also like to note that upon being in these room, you are limited to 10 hints, not enough to get through the entire game if you are stuck. If you are truly stuck, they eventually bestow upon you another hint but I often had to try various routes which is great- but I often got off track for up to five minutes before I was offered a hint, often giving me the answer as I wouldn’t have enough time to work out the puzzle with a smaller hint. There are hints that do indeed nudge you in the right direction but the clue masters have often waited until it was too late to give nudged, opting to give answers. I honestly don’t believe for some of these puzzles that I would’ve been able to solve them without receiving the answer. Some of the puzzles honestly are incredibly difficult and complex which I give kudos to as I was heavily stumped and often wanted to quit and walk out then and there. The people here are kind, which is the main reason I returned to try and complete a room once more. Unfortunately I will not be back as I feel that I’ve wasted my time and my money here trying to complete rooms that aren’t possible or having all their pieces to be able to...
Read moreSpy Ops was our 40th escape room, first one at this location, and we will NOT be returning to this location and I wouldn't recommend anyone to pay money to come here. I probably wouldn't even return to play one for free.
First of all, their name has "Live Escape Rooms" which means nothing. There is no actor in your room or anything special, it just means it's not online like some of the ones were during covid. So I feel their name is very misleading because it makes it seem like they're different somehow from other escape rooms.
This room was ugly, not exciting at all, the wall panels were attached by staples, there was a map that was all warped and didn't even have a complete frame, and there was no attention to detail. There were no hidden clues, just ALL padlocks and keys. So many padlocks that you had to figure out which padlock your code went to which was annoying. And everything was bolted down which made entering codes and using things difficult.
The room and the codes were not intuitive at all, we were very frustrated and needed several clues which we almost never need. We were so bored with this room and knew immediately we had wasted our time and money.
We talked to an employee afterwards about how dissapointed we were and they didn't really offer anything. We suggested they attend a room at "Rabbit Hole Recreation Services- Escape Rooms" in Louisville to see how they can improve their rooms. He kept saying this was a beginner room (this isn't the room we originally booked, someone booked the same one we did seconds before so we both got confirmation for the same room) so they changed our room when we arrived. And if this was the first escape room we had ever done, we wouldn't want to do another one. I really hope they listen to our advice and make their rooms more exciting and innovative like several others ones are in the area. It's almost 2024 and there's no reason why they can't add more exciting elements. Please...
