The last thing this location would want is a resident to write a review. We've lived here appx 14 months. Spent upwards of $48,000+ to live here for the year+. And I question myself as to why we didn't leave, sooner.
Please enjoy the list of things I've noticed about the staff, around the public areas and inside the rooms. We've stayed in 3 rooms, so far. Had to move twice -- gross. DO NOT stay in 187. They couldn't pull the dog piss out of the carpet no matter how little they actually tried to.
My list was originally made for the front desk & corporate, so it's in bullet point form and not in complete sentences. Please bear with me.
And we begin:
The staff: No need to ask for the manager because the employees are more kind, helpful and provide better service than the general manager. Sarah ran out her best employees. They've begged certain people to come back (and they did for a week, then left again - it wasn't worth it to them & I don't blame them). There's an entirely new front desk staff every 3-6 months. Her turn-over rate is ridiculous for all staff (housekeeping, breakfast, front desk & maintenance). Nobody stays. Nobody likes their job. I feel bad for the few that are still here & putting up with bad management. And she doesn't mind giving ANYBODY a blatantly nasty attitude.
Public areas: Leaking hallways Laundry room - (1) washer and (1-2) dryers go in and out of order The washers have been providing hot water when you set the cycle to cold (proclaimed water heater issues on "that side of the building") [not a frequent thing, but a recent thing] The gas grills do not work, never did. The pool was unavailable for a majority of the season. (We had to walk to the Sheraton during the summer to enjoy the pool) [when it was made available, they hadn't cleaned the pool water and - unfortunately - my children splashed in green-looking water. Their filter was broken, but they still haven't fixed the water heaters.] The jacuzzi has not been repaired for over a year (before we checked in & after) [no water heater or filters, either] The outdoor showers do not work in the pool area. No omelette for breakfast, as promised. Dog poop sitting around the building for days (courtyard and side entry doors).
Inside our 2-bedroom suite: Leak in our room that led to a gaping hole in our ceiling. The kitchen sink "talks" to you when the heat or air is on. Suite B bathroom sink was cracked, then broke the second day we moved in - No replacement of our sink, which we were told would be ordered and should arrive within appx 7 months. (We have to use our own bucket to catch the water) Carpet torn and patches detached. Carpet nails exposed (if you love your socks/feet, be careful) No hot water in the kitchen for either the sink or dishwasher. No housekeeping services on a regular basis, not even a knock or check-in. Missing towel hook in suite A bathroom. Suite A only has one closet door, which is off the hinge. Sure A front room doors are falling off of the hinges and do not close/lock properly. Suite A toilet constantly runs - unless you toggle it to stop. The toilet upstairs/above also constantly runs. Couch cushions were torn, stained and miss-shaped upon arrival to the room. A swatted fly's dead body was never removed from the window. It was smashed on.
You may ask me, why haven't you switched rooms? Well, when you have switched to your 3rd room in the first 2 months, you get tired of moving your house down a hall. Remember, we live here. We have more to move than just a suitcase. -- & both times we've moved, we were only given less than a work day to clean up, clean out and move because they booked the room we were staying in to someone else before we got our stuff out.. SAME DAY. I'm talking about 6-8hrs to move your whole house. Wild. Needless to say, we won't be staying here much longer & we'll definitely be more careful with who we spend thousands of...
Read moreI regret to say that my recent stay at this hotel was nothing short of a nightmare. My girlfriend is a Hyatt employee, and we used her employee portal to book this Hyatt hotel. Despite making two room reservations using my girlfriend’s account, the hotel allowed someone else to check in under her work email. How this happened at a hotel where IDs are checked for reservations is beyond me. They also allowed this person to cancel our second room, which we had booked for family friends.
You’d think it would have improved from there. Nope. The manager came over to assist and book us a new room. As the woman who made the mistake was admitting to it, the manager yelled, “Just stop talking.” I guess she realized the hole was being dug deeper by the second. The new room we were assigned reeked of cigarettes, so upon entry, we went back to the desk and requested a new room so we wouldn’t have to deal with the smell or be charged a smoking fee. Once we finally got into our final room, we noticed ripped couch cushions with cigarette burn holes in them. By this point, we were so over it we just stayed in the room.
The hotel itself was disheveled and dilapidated, with wallpaper peeling off the walls in the hallways, blowing in the wind, and badge scanners literally falling off the side entry doors.
To make matters worse, we were staying at this hotel for a family funeral/repast and thought it would be a nice gesture to book rooms for two family friends. When my girlfriend called to request a refund for at least one of the rooms due to the poor quality of the hotel, the manager agreed to offer a refund on one room. This came after she said, ‘Well, if I were you and it was that bad, I would’ve just left and booked a new hotel.’ Wow, great idea… maybe we should have to avoid this purgatory of a hotel. Anyways, my girlfriend didn’t disclose to the manager the true nature of the reservation and told her we were traveling on a personal ‘business trip’, because frankly, it wasn’t her business why we were there. So one week after our stay, we still had not received our refund and called back. The manager took it upon herself to call my girlfriend’s boss, which was completely inappropriate for a personal trip, no matter the nature, and not honor the refund she promised.
I personally book rooms every week for work as a traveling business consultant, and I have never had an experience like this, even in the worst hotels in the most rural locations, let alone Denver. There was a funny exchange that took place where we joked with front desk staff about how we thought we were booking the Denver Tech Center - a much nicer hotel with friendly staff - and the front desk staff laughed and said, “Oh, we know that’s how we get people to stay here.” OBVIOUSLY. Because it isn’t the rooms, it isn’t the horrible breakfast, it isn’t the ambiance of wallpaper hanging off the wall, and it definitely isn’t the customer service.
This experience was beyond disappointing; it was downright unacceptable. I strongly advise future guests to reconsider staying here unless you don’t care much about your accommodations when you travel. If you don’t, this one is for you....
Read moreUpdated below July 2021. Hyatt House is Hyatt's version of an extended stay property. We stayed in a 1 bedroom unit. It was comfortable with a full kitchen including a dishwasher. The unit itself was well laid out however it was small. For two people it was adequate however if you had three or four unless they were small children, it might be a little tight in my opinion. There is not a Manager's reception like you might find at a Residence Inn in the evenings; however, the breakfast in the morning includes an omelet bar with cooked to order omelets. This is a really great feature for my wife and I and it puts this free breakfast over-the-top compared to any other free breakfasts we have had. The pool and whirlpool are outside so don't come here in the winter and think that you can take your children to the pool and entertain that way. The bed was comfortable. My wife and I would come here again. Update: July 2021, post COVID restrictions in Colorado. I lowered my rating to 3 stars and here is why. This property has great potential. It's well built and in a great location. However.... We are here a second time and the 1 bedroom king suite we are in is tired and in need of being refreshed. The carpet has a badly done patch and where the carpet meets the tile is frayed and in need of being replaced. The sofa' springs are worn and uncomfortable. It looks like it had fresh paint recently however it was done quickly without moving the furniture- not at all what you except from a Hyatt. The desk chair is about as inexpensive as they come, it sometimes stays at the height you set it and sometimes it doesn't. There is no adjustment for the back which is leaning back. The bedding is in need in being replaced. It's a king with two wells on each side and a hump in the middle. It's sags too much for me and I ended up with a very mild backache from it. The landscaping is badly in need of attention. The big cement pots as you come in are full of weeds and not flowers. The shrub beds are full of weeds. One of the sidewalks from the building to the pool is being taken over by the bushes. And did I mention the breakfast which is as pathetic as the last two Residence Inns we stayed in. They couldn't even provide the extremely limited two items on their menu. The food server was forced to give me a lame excuse about the food that was ordered not coming in. If that was even true, the nearby grocery stores have plenty of food so there's no excuse. The Drury Inn has figured out how to return to full meals mornings and evenings and beverages why can't Hyatt and Marriott do the same? They have figured out how to return to their regular prices. The only reason I would stay here again is if I needed a full kitchen. Hyatt has full residential size stoves where the Residence Inn many times only has a cook top with no oven. I like Hyatt's however this one needs some attention soon because a bad reputation is hard...
