The problems started at check-in and unfortunately did not improve. Upon arriving, the agent at the desk did not say hello, did not greet me in any way. I let her know I had made a reservation through hotels.com, she said, "Well it hasn't shown up yet, you'll have to wait a minute." And proceeded to do other things, ignoring my presence until she could see it in her system. I had paid up front through hotels.com, so she said she only needed my identification and, in her exact words, a card to put on file. I filled out the vehicle registration and signed my check-in form, she then ran my card through the credit card processing terminal, and I said, "That is only to put on file correct?" She then said, "No we charge a deposit equal to the rate of the room which you will get back when you check out." She placed a hold on my card for $396 without first telling me the amount or confirming that I was okay with it. I understand some facilities charge a deposit, but it is outrageously inappropriate to hold nearly $400 off of someone's credit card without even telling them that you're about to do it. I then inquired if it would be released immediately at checkout, and was informed that it could take 7 to 10 business days depending on my financial institution. So that is basically $400 that it may be a total of 2 weeks before I see back that I did not consent to being held. At the time I was 39 weeks pregnant, my fiance and I are waiting on our permanent housing and had no choice but to check into a weekly rate hotel. I asked if there was something convenient to the doors as we did have a lot of our belongings. She said that wouldn't be a problem. We were placed on the second floor through a maze of hallways that require quite a walk to get to. I delivered our son on Monday, 4/26 via c section, and have had to painfully hike to our room since being discharged. The front desk agent did not say one word about breakfast or lack thereof due to covid-19, did not inform me of housekeeping procedure for long-term guests, did not speak one word about anything the hotel offered or was not offering at this time. Simply handed me my keys and that was that. She had a sweater on over her shirt so I could not see her name tag. And the entire interaction consisted of her being rude short and completely unhelpful. Well that inn of itself was incredibly inappropriate, our stay here has been one of the worst we've experienced. The televisions cut in and out, their connection to satellite or whatever they use is very weak. We did ask for towels and did say that we did not need a complete cleaning service, and we're told by the evening agent to set the trash and towels outside our room and she would come get them at some point that evening and she gave us fresh towels. As of 11:00 the next morning our towels and trash are still sitting in the hallway along with many others. Throughout the entirety of our stay every trash can inside and outside the hotel has been overflowing. The hallways smell because of the food waste left scattered around, and it seems the staff in general is just very inattentive and uninterested. My fiance had The misfortune of having to deal with the same clerk that I did at check-in when inquiring about laundry. She did not greet him either when he approached the desk, did not say one word, and when he asked she shortly and rudely said it's closed right now. We still don't know if it was closed because it was later in the evening or if it's completely closed because of covid. She certainly didn't seem to care to inform anyone. Between the cost and the deposit we have spent $900 for a room that offers basically nothing, and to deal with staff that, simply put, have completely missed the mark. We have always held La Quinta in high regard as a great hotel chain, so this experience has been doubly disappointing. I will be contacting Wyndham corporate as well, hoping for at least an immediate partial refund or...
Read moreHad stayed at this hotel a while ago in 2008. Was better maintained and had a more courteous staff at that time. We returned to visit Denver in April, 2014 and things have gone way downhill since our last stay. I don't recall the name of the woman at the front desk who worked swing shift, but she was very rude. We booked 2 rooms to accommodate our family and upon arrival, we pulled back sheets to inspect for bedbugs. Low and behold, in one of the rooms, we found bedbugs in the mattress. We went to the front desk to report our discovery and Clerk immediately became rude and defensive. She was almost adamant about not going upstairs with us, but I was more adamant about getting on her last nerves until she took action.
When we returned with the clerk, who, upon seeing the bedbug shells and trails, got even more bent out of shape and picked them up with a gloved hand and then turned the glove inside out, so as to "bag" the bugs. She stormed out of the room and asked us to follow her because we wanted the room changed. She gave us a room on the third floor, away from the originally adjoining room on the 2nd floor, adding to the inconvenience. Later on, upon talking to the manager, we discovered that she wasn't even supposed to have handled this situation that way. She didn't follow any proper procedures for dealing with this issue.
What else can I say? The rooms were rather worn out themselves. Cabinet faces falling off, worn and stained furniture. Carpets that were in desperate need of a rug doctor. The hallways were dim, light bulbs out. Elevator very rancid and disgusting with vandalism included. It was apparent that the Hotel has seen much traffic in the last seven years, but it was also apparent that any interest in proper upkeep was minimal, if not nonexistent. You got feeling that apathy was becoming the corporate theme in this establishment.
After the bugs in the one room, I went to the new room and I inspected the bed carefully and found no evidence of bedbugs there. But, by now, I certainly wasn't going to be able to sleep soundly during this trip.
Breakfast was of a mediocre continental variety. But I was too afraid to eat anything they were going to serve anyway.
In my humble opinion, it does you no good to have employees who get defensive and angry when customers and guests come to them with valid concerns and they get all bent out of shape as if the guests were lying or just making the complaints to be a pain in the ass. This hotel has some serious health concerns, and for people like the rude Clerk we dealt with to sweep these problems under the rug simply puts more potential guests at risk. I don't consider a hotel with Bedbugs to be a safe hotel.
These are the issues that arise when self-interests are put before running a clean and healthful establishment. When too many staff are "doing their own thing" instead of doing THE RIGHT THING.
Very disappointing as this location was once quite nice. I have to visit again to find a place to live to move back. A relative recommended this one, and it actually triggered the memories, which is why I am writing it now. It was a...
Read moreI gave 3 stars based on cleanliness. I heard that this location is not a franchise, so their budget for housekeeping and other things is not very good. The housekeepers seem to work hard, but can only do so much in given time - this is not good for a pet friendly hotel. One very good aspect of this La Quinta is that the 1st floor rooms each have door to outside garden, with gazebo, pool, hot tub, lots of ground to walk your pet. There's lots of dog excrement on ground, even right beside stations with bags and garbage can - lots of guests do not pick up after themselves.
Staff is friendly and helpful. There's no convenience store here like other La Quintas, their front lobby is pretty, but I would trade that for cleanliness. The ice machines are a long walk away from our room, no ice in lobby. Okay breakfast, no meats, but have boiled eggs & waffle machine. Hallway carpets dirty, seen a used condom on first floor hallway. When we put our used linen and garbage outside of door, it is picked up quickly.
Water pressure in bathroom sink slow, so was drain, I had to unclog myself, disgusting. It was obvious that U trap in sink had lots of gunk, because after I poured large amounts of hot water down drain, that I got from tub, water drained slowly and black gunk backwashed. Maintenance guy came next morning, didn't even put draino, even though he brought it, said it was draining okay. I disinfected and cleaned entire bathroom, including floor, every fixture, entire toilet, using gloves, of course.
I give them a 1 star for the laundry room - the floor is so dirty, that I hesitated to walk in. After several days of avoiding the laundrette, I had to do at least 2 loads. The washers were dirty on outside, but washed okay, only 30 minutes total at $1.75 per load, so i did very small loads, at least the water temps were correct. The dryers had hardened gum on inside, lint traps disgusting. The vent to one dryer was not completely hooked up to wall, I could not adjust it. The other dryer hadv taped hole in vent. Neither dryer got my clothes dry within the 49 minutes per $1.75. I had small, lightweight loads. I had to bring paper towels and my own cleaner into laundry room to clean the folding table, it was so dirty. The room is large, and has a dirty, stained bench, and dirty but intact laundry cart. I cleaned the bottom of my boots after leaving the...
