TLDR: Skip Crunch and go with LA Fitness or find a privately owned non-chain gym and spend the extra $$$ per month for a better experience.
I joined this gym via a referral from a close friend who is a spin instructor at another crunch location.
I signed up online for the âPeak Resultsâ level plan. When I signed up online I used my CREDIT CARD for the initial payment and monthly payments.
I headed to the gym for the first time to tackle my initial workout and get a feel for the culture there. The shopping center is busy but I found a spot close to the front door. Upon entering I was greeted by a woman. She took my photo and gave me a high level overview of the gym from the front desk. Things were going decently so far. She pivoted back to the computer to make sure everything was good with my account. Things started to go off course from hereâŚ
The woman informed me that I needed to change my payment method from a card to my routing/account number. I questioned âwhyâ when I signed up online and it gave the option to use either and I elected to use my credit card and get a few Amex points. She proceeded to tell me that the online system isnât up to date and the in-gym system is and that they require the change to a routing/account number. Very odd that a website isnât updated but the system in the actual gym is. Seemed strange to me considering crunch isnât a small little company. The woman then began to press me for the banking info. I had my cellphone so she asked me to open my banking app and get the info. I declined. I protested based on the agreement I signed online. After a bit of back and forth she said, âWell we will need it next time you come in so just bring it with youâ. YeahâŚalright lady.
It was just after noon and the gym was busy and bustling with the midday lunch crowd. The locker room was a bit messy but again it was busy. Made my way to the bench press to start. Immediately got hit with a wave of gym funk. Brushed it off and wiped down the station. As I continued my workout, I noticed something. No one was seen cleaning around the location. I continued my workout and wrapped up after about 45-50 mins.
On the way out, the lady who assisted me initially noticed me leaving. Did she ask me how my initial workout was? No. However, she did make sure to get my attention to remind me to get my banking info for her. At that moment I said to myself, âYeah this place isnât for meâ. Since she got my attention and I had hers I politely informed her that Iâd like to cancel and not proceed further with my membership. Surprisingly, no questions to understand why or empathy to try and maintain my business was shown. She pivoted to telling me how I was still going to get charged for the first 90 days and the annual fee is still due. I laughed and asked what I needed to do to cancel? She said she was handling it right now and just to scan my barcode again so my info would come back up which I did. After about two minutes she said I was good to go and I exited the facility.
Flash forward to a few weeks later. Is the membership canceled? No. Lol. Did they try to charge my card for the monthly fee and then a late fee multiple times? Yup, they tried it. This is exactly why I donât provide my direct banking information to give anyone that level of access to my money. Incompetence like this. I called the location to ask why the cancellation didnât happen. A woman informed me I needed to come back to the location and handle it in person. I asked why? She explained that each gym has their own rules and they need to see me in person to cancel. Now why would I waste my gas and do that?
Spend the extra and find a nice privately owned gym (like I ended up doing) where youâre treating like a valued customer. Found a gym where the cost is 3x (which Iâm happy to pay) but the equipment is newer and higher quality, less foot traffic, more variety of equipment, and a high level of cleanliness and service. YMMV but mine stopped the...
Read moreThere is no place below one star so I couldn't choose anything other than one star I wanted to give -5 five stars. â EMILY was the lady who ruined my day today morning .I came in the morning like every day, I scanned my bar code and I started my cardio in cardio section after 10 minutes she called me from the crunch number and .i was told to go front desk I went there like nice and after she tells me my balance is due I can't go to gym today to get me out . I said nicely that my account has already been debited but they returned the money back to my account â But she didn't want to listen anywhere she told me that I have to pay now or I have to leave the gym now I told her ok then I will pay but give me the number of the department she doesn't have that number â I said to give me manager number she doesn't have manager number I asked to call supervisor she said put on hold and repeatedly told me to get out of the gym I then told her nicely if I had anything left like dues/fees why would you let me in gym and ask me to get out of the gym in the middle of the workout. â Then she says it's my fault đ¤Łđ¤Łbut she always stands here and knows who comes and goesđđđđ
He didn't let me go to the gym today, he made me stand for an hour, but I've been going to this gym since last one year. â
I said if I need to pay something I will pay no problem but call your manager or call someone so I can talk because it's not my fault it's crunch management's fault why did they take money from my account and refund it I paid him but he treated me very badly and made my whole day today â
It's not my fault, I have nothing, yet he treated me very badly
How do you tell a regular member to leave the gym I didn't understand this thing I said you keep my driver's license my bank card my branch card or whatever membership card I have no problem but I have to workout why should I leave the gym middle of the workout â I am very sad that no one came to help me, there was no manager and this girl behaved very badly
Although a trainer came and said I might be able to do the gym, Emily was so rude that I couldn't and had to leave the gym. â
â I would draw the attention of Crunch management to improve their management and staff behavior and provide best facilities and support to members. â
worst experience i am gonna keep putting bad reviews and i will told my all of my friends to put bad reviews because this is our neighbourhood gym We always treat everyone well. Everyone should treat us well â
We don't come here to gym for free, we definitely come here to gym with...
Read moreI initially signed on with Crunch Fitness at 625 Holcomb Bridge Road, Roswell, GA, and the female fitness associate working at that location told me that there was no commitment required and that I can cancel anytime. I was in the process of moving, and I went to this location to cancel my membership with Crunch Fitness. The management team told me that a minimum of a 90 day commitment was required, and that I couldn't cancel. Instead, he told me to write a letter to the corporate headquarters , and I told him that it makes no logical sense whatsoever. I asked if they had a corporate office number instead, and all they told me was that there was an address, and they've got no other information other than the mailing address in Florida. I asked to speak to a manager to escalate my issue, and he told me that he was a member of the management team, and to go back where I initially signed up, and to see if they'll let me cancel there given that it was the original location that told me that. So, I went back to the original location, and they told me the same thing and charged me a cancellation fee because the associate that signed me on wasn't working there at the time. I ended up disputing the charges with my bank because for such a big corporation like Crunch Fitness, they're practicing unethical and bad business practices with their consumers, and I think the management team needs to re-train their employees, by telling them to honor the clients that signed contracts with a no-commitment policy, and any updates that were made afterwards only applies for clients when those updates/changes about a 90 day commitment policy were made. It's unethical and bad business practices to lure in customers and have them join a membership/contract with no commitment, and to be later catfished/scammed with their new "updates." I thought everyone who's a member at Crunch Fitness or prospective consumers should know about their bad business policies. Otherwise, the gym is a nice facility to work out in, but the management team and their employees need some more professional training in regards to...
