Hansen & Co. Barber Shop — Attraction in Champaign

My husband and I just moved from Syracuse, NY to Champaign, IL and we were looking for a place to get our haircut and beards trimmed up. Let me tell you, this place the place to go! And soon as we entered we were greeted by Lee and Kayla and asked if we had an appointment or were walking in. Kayla was there for walk-ins and she was terrific! She cut both of our hair and fixed up our scraggly beards into tiptop shape! She was very engaging in conversation and let me tell you about those piercing blue eyes and amazing hair! The atmosphere is so laid back and relaxed! Great music variety to listen to along with a well decorated establishment! I have never felt welcomed or comfortable in a barbershop in my entire life besides when I was a kid and I am so glad I don't have to pay ridiculous salon prices for a subpar cut! It was not easy to assume how something simple as changing a tail to slicked back could be such a struggle. 20 minutes out on the chair, after my tail was taken off, I was told it was impossible to make it slicked back because my hair on the back keeps poping off. 15 minutes of gel throwing later, instead of delivering what's promised, I was told the next appointment is waiting and kicked out of the chair, with hair looking like a scarecorw's. I had no choice but to save it myself. And what really stepped the game up is when I asked for a spare comb, they gave me a tiny singletime-use beard comb. Yes, I spent the last 20 minutes in the bathroom of the barber shop getting rid of the tumbleweed on my head. And now one click on the 1 star is being accused of "blasting online". After a full year of not being able to get my hair cut, I needed someone who knew what they were doing to clean up the mop I had. While I almost missed an appointment with Lee due to a last minute scheduled meeting with my work, Blake was able to get me in that day and did an awesome job with nothing more than a vague waving of hands in my attempt to remember what an actual trim was like.
