We recently hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Gale Restaurant. Wow! We are from out of state, so I was nervous about planning such a special event at a restaurant based completely on reviews and gut instinct. It was perfect! First, Katie worked so patiently with me to plan a menu that would completely satisfy our 42 person party. She created beautiful customized menus with the names of the bride and groom with our preselected menu, as well as custom cocktail menus. Such a fun presentation. We were a mix of adults and children, and they kindly created a few things specifically for the littlest ones. I pre selected a menu which they executed with great artistry, and accommodated a few food allergies as well. Every dish was a culinary delight! The chef came out and spoke with me personally during the party and assured that everything went smoothly. Let’s talk cocktails. Jonathan, bartender extrodinaire, created his beautiful and delicious cocktails for the adults, a special purple lemonade for the kids, and intuitively brought a virgin cocktail to a guest that was not consuming alcohol. Jonathan and Katie rocked our whole evening. Eclectic food, custom cocktails, and I let them choose the music that set the tone for an unforgettable rehearsal dinner. Every guest asked how I found this gem. Thank you all for an evening that we will cherish forever. We will be back for dinner our next trip to Charleston. Thank you! ...

I have never reviewed a restaurant before but this one bears special recognition. I chose Gale restaurant for my birthday since same name as mine but what a pleasant surprise when it turned out to be the best combination of Italian spices and herbs I have ever tasted. From the wine to the dessert everything was a 10 out of 10 and I had 2 Italian ladies with me who confirmed absolutely excellent Italian dining. There is nothing Italian about the name or atmosphere and according to restaurant owner, Gale, none of them are Italians, "we just know how to cook really good Italian food"! The price point is a little high given the location and atmosphere and there are only about 12 items on the whole menu but every choice is excellent and every bit as delish as anything you would eat on King or East Bay. I rationalized that they probably have to charge those prices to stay in business given their odd location and the current economy. We had the Broccolini app and Farrow salad to start....tomato sauce on the Broccolini amazing combo of herbs and spices with a little kick; the Farrow salad was BAM...10 out of 10. I had the Caprese pasta w/meatballs....meatballs are fried and OMG 10 out of 10 on the pasta dish. My friends both had the ricotta pasta, one with meatballs and one without and both raved about it. Finally we shared the chocolate cake for dessert and BAM...10 out of 10! A must try for anyone who...

Had a girls night & wanted to try a new place! Gale did not let us down. They had the most amazing drink options, it was hard to chose. You don’t want to miss the Cirtus Beet salad or Whipped Ricotta. I thought the pizza was good as well, I asked for a side of extra honey and chili oil for their marg pizza & that made it extra fantastic. My con:. They lost a star for me because the bar tender was our server and he couldn’t speak to anything on the menu other than it was new on the menu, which is OK, but he didn’t make too much of an effort to get answers for us. I would just like my server to be knowledgeable about their own menu. We also were left alone for quite some time, didn’t have our waters refilled and had to flag people down for service after being left for 30-35 min with our apps, THEN being asked to order dinner. Being with girls friends, this service wasn’t as big of a deal, but if it were my husband and I, I would have been annoyed with how long the service took. ( We were one of two tables at the restaurant that night, us (4 girls) and a couple on a date). This to me was worth taking off 1 star. However, everything else was absolutely yum! Gale herself even came up to us and she is such a gem. I will definitely be back as we expressed our feedback to her and she let us know they were short staffed that night, i would love my husband to try...

We had such an amazing experience here this past Thursday evening. Gale Restaurant was everything we could have hoped for and so much more. We were visiting from out of town and looking for an Italian restaurant with accessible parking. The location made it so easy to get to the interstate and head home from there. From the moment we entered, it was clear that this was a very welcoming environment where ALL are invited. The atmosphere was so pleasing and had such nice touches like the colored lights above the bar. Our server was Jorge. He was phenomenal. He was very attentive to our needs. He explained the menu, various items on the menu, and informed us that changes could be made by the chef if we wished. He suggested the mocktails, which we tried and thoroughly enjoyed - especially the Lavender Rain. The food was extremely quick and very delicious. Between the three of us, we shared 2 pizzas. It was evident that everything was prepared fresh to order. When we had the cannoli for dessert, we could even see it being filled from our table. Jorge packed up our leftover Shrimp and Margherita pizzas separately and even gave us a sampling of a cornbread that the chef was working on while we there. It was a very enjoyable, memorable meal; and we will definitely return on future visits to Charleston.

I considered posting photos of empty plates...what good does that do if you cannot appreciate the artwork and love that goes into every dish and cocktail. I was here celebrating our wedding anniversary, best decision ever. The staff is phenomenal, talk about great recommendations and attentive at the right time. No hovering, service is on point and the food is so good, there won't be leftovers. Let's talk portions, there is plenty in all categories. If I was the owner, I'd reduce the portion by about 10% and retain the prices. It's easy to leave here happy and full. We had multiple dishes, Brussel sprouts, buratta, mushroom pizza and a delicious fruit dessert. Cocktails are creative and make you want more. This is a place I could easily visit weekly and never get bored. Oh, FREE parking behind the place!!! Go, only if you love cool people, inviting atmosphere and most importantly, fantastic food!
