Really did not want to leave this review here - but I have no other option as Marriott has not reached out to me about my recent stay and I cannot find any sort of feature on my account where I can leave my comments/concerns regarding my stay. I would also like to note I am a regular Marriott customer, a Gold member currently, so if I received the treatment I did at this stay, I feel very badly for first time customers having to deal with this and this is NOT NORMAL. I stayed here in November for 5 nights for work and will never be staying at this hotel again. Upon arrival (~10pm, straight off a flight), I was not eagerly helped. It took them several minutes to stop whatever they were doing on their computers/phones to help me. The front desk, night shift specifically, were very cold and not welcoming. I will say the staff in the morning was nice, but the night staff was not ideal to interact with. When checking in, they did not have my room ready, even though I had already checked in and filled out my accommodations via the app. I booked a king bedroom for the week, and they did not have it available, so I was given two queen beds.... whatever. Did not get an 'I'm sorry' or even an offer for more points, etc. (nicer hotels than Springhill have always provided me extra accommodations/points for not having my exact room booked). As annoying as this room error was, it happens to me often at Marriott, I just decided to look past it. I also am supposed to get free water bottles when I check in, which I was not offered. I was told 'you were supposed to have a bag but uhhh I don't see it anywhere.' I proceeded to get water from the market that one of the concierge's tried to charge me for. So, not only was the staff just flat out rude and did not care about the guests, or me in particular, but the overall establishment lied about what my Gold membership offers me and what they would have ready for me upon arrival - overall disappointing and annoying. I then was told if I wanted to switch rooms after seeing my room, I needed to let them know before midnight that night so proper cleaning could be done.... I did not entirely understand this comment, but I was so tired I just wanted a room with a bed at this point. So, after not getting the room, I booked nor my welcome bag, I go to my room and alike other reviews I've read, my room was not very clean. The desk was all sticky with food and crumbs, candy on the floor, hair in the sheets and on the bathroom floor/counters, just not acceptable whatsoever for how much I was paying. This is not acceptable, period, for anyone giving their money to them. Overall, not a great or good experience. Will not be...
Read moreWe had a 1-night stay at this hotel and would probably not go back. Breakfast The included breakfast was a pre-packaged sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich (only option) in a fridge which you heat up yourself at one of only three microwaves for all guests. The beverages were coffee, tea, orange juice, and water (other juice dispensers were disabled or out of order). There were a couple very basic packaged items you could grab, but a single vending machine would have had a better selection than what was offered here. Maintenance We didn't use the hotel's common amenities (business/fitness center), but what we definitely noticed was a very foul odor that was persistently present in the 11th floor hallway. We figured it might have been recent, but the couch in our room had a heavy body odor smell to it as well, so it seemed like persistent issues that require deep cleaning or maintenance seem to go unnoticed or unaddressed. Access/Parking The front entrance of the hotel is a bit hard to get to as it is on a one-way street in front of a stadium and you have to make a 90 degree left turn between collision poles and cross train tracks to get into the tiny drop off zone which only holds a few cars at the most. Parking is $28/day using the hotel valet or about $20/day if you park yourself at the nearby garage (which charges extra if you have to leave and come back). It is right next to Spectrum Center and a few other venues so that may be a plus if you came to attend those venues. Room The room itself was very clean and we were very happy with everything that a room cleaning crew is normally expected to do between check-outs. I was expecting to find issues with the cleanliness of the room and I did not, which is a high compliment to the room cleaning staff. Overall Our stay was unsatisfactory because we picked this hotel specifically for the included breakfast and wound up going out to eat instead. That, coupled with a few other minor issues ruined it for us, but the room was clean, so if you don't intend to eat breakfast there and are not driving or planned to pay for parking, then it may...
Read moreThe rooms are very clean, the air conditioner works great, and it is a great location. There are tons of great restaurants within walking distance. The light rail does go right by the hotel, but it’s pretty quiet. I think it only woke me up one time. The hotel does provide earplugs in case you need them. Within two blocks in either direction, there are two different light rail stops. I recommend using the seventh Street side. You can take lync to NODA or Southend to see other trendy areas. Parking is a bit of a pain if you have a car. I did valet but didn’t have any cash. When I tried to tip on the app, there was a $.99 service fee every time you wanted to leave a tip. That’s ridiculous. I had to go find Cash so that I could tip. Upon first arrival at the hotel, the signage was not very good for how to get in to the valet area. They have the entrance and exits right at the valet station both marked as exits. You have to go down the block, take a left at the entrance where it looks like you’re going into a parking garage but then take another super sharp left and come back up a lane to get into the valet area. They need better signage. Another reason I am dinging them a star is stairwell management. I stayed six nights and the same small pieces of trash were on the stairs every day. There was a big bag of trash that sat on the second floor Landing from Thursday to Sunday. A second bag joined it on Saturday and stayed overnight. I have a sedentary job so I take the stairs all the time when I’m staying in hotels. I was annoyed that they intentionally lock the second floor door so that guest with a key cannot get onto that floor to get to breakfast. Had to take the stairs all the way down to the first floor, walk to the lobby, and then walk back up the big staircase in the lobby back to the second floor. I can understand if you are trying to keep people from getting onto that floor that aren’t entitled to eat breakfast, but blocking people with a key...
