A spooky, fun, and historical night out...and our little dog too!
My fiancée and I love spooky stories, ghost tales, and (most of all) history so this seemed right up our alley and boy were we right! We have never been on a haunted tour and this exceeded our expectations. We had to evacuate our home town and chose Charlotte because it was right out of reach of Hurricane Dorian. Our guide, Dan, was absolutely incredible! To say he knew his stuff is an understatement. My fiancée and I both indulge in Historical/True Crime/Ghostly podcasts and Dan provided an experience that was not only more informative but vastly more entertaining than any podcast we've listened to. He not only entertained us but made us feel at ease in a new city to us. That meant a lot. And to top it all off, I called earlier to see if we could bring our dog and was told they were dog-friendly as long as she was a friendly dog (love that!) and asked if we would please bring her away of she started to bark or be disruptive. Totally understandable and reasonable! So we got to bring our furry friend a lot for the spooky journey! We had to bring her to Charlotte because of the evacuation. All in all, this made our mandatory evacuation into a scary story evacucation! We had a blast and can't wait to visit the tour in Savannah! Thank...
Read moreAnother fun way to enjoy Uptown is a ghost tour. First time doing a local one and was excited about all the ghostly tales Uptown is hiding beneath its facade. The tour was 1 1/2 hour. It was a short loop from the Truist Center ending at the Settlers cemetery/dog park on W 5th street/N Church st., so it was not a very extensive walk. The tour had more of a historical storyline background than current haunting experiences on highlighted structures and sites. So, don't expect any scary stories to date. However, it was great to learn some historical facts and to see the "other side" of Uptown at night. Our tour guide was upbeat and a fun storyteller who made sure we hear him even over loud vehicles passing by 😁 Tip: Make sure to take pictures whenever you can. You might just catch something unexpected! Also wear comfy shoes. Some of the side streets are dark with uneven pavements. Best to have your feet protected. Park at Truist parking garage if you want to be close by the...
Read moreWe attended this spirit tour with Mrs.Laura as our guide. In a midst of a pandemic, she was not only professional in how she performed with the group, but she was also very proficient in carrying on the tour among the unfortunate sounds of the city and behavior of those who were not attending the tour. She answered so many questions we've wondered about Charlotte's history & kept everyone engaged with shocking facts that are hidden in today's modern architecture and society. My husband even enjoyed the tour (he's not interested in spirits but he LOVES history and it was a perfect mixture of the two interests!) HIGHLY recommend booking a tour, especially if Laura...
