ETA: Manager called to apologize about their poor performance. They said they reviewed the footage and saw where the employee definitely wasnât paying attention and where we had to do multiple puzzles several times. Agreed that it was because certain people were working that evening and it wasnât a surprise to them. Then they decided after our phone call to come on here and respond to my review and insult my intelligence because it just so happened that it was one of their best employees that failed them?
Why donât you post the footage of our game so people can see how terrible it was? Yes, just like all human beings, we were confused about some of the puzzles and genuinely needed hints. But no, we shouldnât have had to do shaggys magnifying glass THREE times for it to show us the clue, we shouldnât have had to do the books in the correct order THREE TIMES for it to open the cabinet beneath, we shouldnât have had to explain to the game master that we ALREADY FOUND the stuff inside the fireplace. We shouldnât have had to sit and wait for hints to pop up and we shouldnât have had to tell your beloved game master that we were already way ahead of them. So much time was wasted in this game because of YOUR failure. If you say those things were not the game master and were automatic, then they should have worked the first time and if they didnât work then thatâs when itâs an appropriate time for the game master to let us know something is BROKEN. Get your shit together. Pathetic business practice to blame the customer for your faults.

I hate to say it because the Scooby Doo room was super cool, but that was without a doubt the worst experience Iâve had at an escape room. And Iâve done quite a few of escape rooms at quite a few different locations. This was my first time at this location though.
Iâve never EVER in an escape room after asking for a hint had to say âweâve already done thatâ, but tonight, my sister and I had to say that MULTIPLE times. Half the hints we asked for werenât even necessary because the person watching us clearly was NOT watching us and unlatching the doors/hatches when it was time to. They were late on nearly every single one.
Iâll give the owner who hopefully reads this some specifics. I wonât spoil the game but you learn in the beginning that the photos on the wall have something to do with the clues and when you find out HOW to access those clues, itâs the same for each one (itâs obvious, this isnât a spoiler). Well, we tried doing the last one multiple times. Stood there for several minutes waiting for it to unlock, thought we were wrong, then wasted about another 10 minutes trying to move on but we COULDLNât because we needed that last clue.
So I tried again, stood there for another couple minutes. Tried doing it exactly like we did all 4 of the others. Tried it different ways. Wouldnât work. I didnât want the wrong hint so instead of hitting the button I had to yell. It wasnât until I gave up and walked away from it that the clue finally revealed itself.
Thatâs ONE of about 5 instances where they literally were not paying attention. (The fireplace, the books, the clocks, and the Scooby snacks were all also not âunlatchedâ until long after we solved the puzzle, or we had to solve it twice because they were only paying attention the second time)
Not a single adult in the building either. Would not recommend hiring teenagers for this job without an adult present at all times. They were clearly screwing around in the camera room.
We wonât be coming back. Shocked at the amount of 5 star reviews. Must have been a bad day or some bad employees...
Read moreI cannot say enough great things about Richard at Escapology CLT. We came in for my daughter's 16th birthday, and Richard went above and beyond to make it a truly unforgettable event. From the moment we walked in, he was so wonderful and welcoming. He had such a fun energy and made everyone feel immediately comfortable. Originally, we were going to do the Batman themed room but unfortunately the screens were down so he offered us to choose another room. So we went with 7 deadly sins. This was everyones first time doing an escape room. He walked us through everything and made us all excited before the game started. It was clear he was genuinely invested in us having a great time, not just in us finishing the room. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he was so fun to interact with throughout the entire experience. To our surprise we finished the room with 14 seconds to spare [All thanks to his amazing hints!!] When he opened the door to congratulate us, he was standing there with a pack of cupcakes that he went and got for my daughter!!! We couldn't believe how thoughtful and sweet he was. He had us all crying! [Happy tears of course] Everyone couldn't stop talking about it afterward. Richard's fantastic personality and his ability to make a special occasion feel even more special made my daughter's 16th birthday something she will cherish for years to come. Thank you, Richard, for making a perfect day even better! We canât wait to come back for...
Read moreWe have done so many escape games. Over 50 and we like to do them in all the states we visit. We were super excited to visit escapology charlotte. We have done all the rooms at the pigeon forge location and they were top notch. We drove 2 hours to come here and also to see other places. Sooooooo disappointed in the antidote. We got out but not sure how. We worked on one puzzle for at least 10 minutes and kept asking for clues. We don't like to ask for clues and they did everything but do the puzzle for us. Turns out a piece was missing from the room. I told them how terrible the room was and we were actually going to do a 2nd room after this room but changed our mind and didn't want to waste our money. I really wanted to do the code in the first place and they offered this room free or our money back. We chose to do the room. This room was much better and looked like an actual escapology room. The only problem with this one was that when we got the final code with 7 minutes left we got out and noone was even there to say anything about the room or offer a picture like most escape games do. There was literally noone except hazel offered us some water and we just left. Definitely won't be back here. I think they were more focused on a birthday party that was going on. Escapology in pigeon forge and other escape games put this one to shame. Honestly not sure how this one...
