Lovely shopping center! A staple of the Southpark area. It is higher-end so maybe not a daily place to go. But for catching a movie, shopping for clothes, fine foods, or furniture, and eating meals—day or night—it’s a definite place to check out for visitors or residents.
Personal favorite restaurants: Upstream Cafe (higher-end) for drinks and appetizers before seeing a movie, or, PF Chang’s (more affordable) for a hearty meal. There is plenty of parking throughout the center. There is always security on watch at the busiest intersection, which is nice given the mixture of car and foot traffic.
Phillips Place is Currently undergoing major construction at the front. Once home to fine food deli Dean and Deluca, the mainstay looks to include an expansion of high-end furniture stores like Restoration Hardware. The new building has a nice style to it, and I’m eager to check it out once completed.
Especially convenient place to be while staying in the adjacent Hampton hotel. Even if not staying the night, it’s worth dropping by between trips to the adjacent Whole Foods or Harris teeter, the nearby Public library, or one of the local banks, dentistries, professionals’ shops (accounting, law, medical practice, etc). A nice alternative to the massive Southpark mall—less traffic, nicer designs, and better restaurants.
Finally: if you want to be near Phillips Place full time, Post Park at Phillips place is the gated apartment complex behind the shopping area. Having lived there, I say it is worth a look! Look to the review page of Post Park for my take on living in that complex.
Great shopping center which has ALWAYS been my choice for evening movies. As a Charlotte native, that review is worth something—there is no lack of movie theatres :) Don’t be deterred by the renovations—it’s still a great place to be in the meantime. I imagine an even better place once...
Read moreCame for an anniversary dinner and dined in the bar one lounge. It was a crowded Sat evening and had I been there before, maybe I would have known the expected crowd, but I though it would be more of a quiet/ romantic lounge space. The worst part, however, was the fact that my husband and I were seated at a bar side booth and the group at the bar stood up almost the entire time even though there was open seating available at the bar. Because of the narrow space between the bar and the booth, the guy standing had his butt practically on our table. I had to tap him and ask him to watch his distance to our table and our food. He had a slight attitude, but I didn't care because he wasn't being considerate of our space. So, my main disappointment was I expecting a little less crowd, but again I didn't know. The food was at least good and the server was great. Our drinks took a long while to come out (well after our food) but I didn't...
Read moreI went to the new location of Bonterra last night with a business group, at my suggestion because of my wonderful experience with the "old" Bonterra. I'm sorry to say, it was not good. I understand they just moved, and I'm hoping it was just adjusting to the new. Specific points: The service was slow...the bread was sliced white loaf that lacked their prior flare for goodness.... the chicken was cool, dry and rubbery... it was serviced on a bed of mushrooms that all blended with the sauce and there was a time I couldn't tell if I was chewing the mushrooms or a piece of chicken skin.... I asked for herbal tea, and my "2" choices were Earl Grey, and a Med level green tea with Jasmine...they had just 1 diet soda!!! They still make a good creme Brule. I have a return dinner in a month, and I hope it improves, as...
