I dont know how to express my disappointment in this place strongly enough. Bar One and 800 degrees restaurant. I booked a "private" party here for both my daughter and my mom, who turned 83 the night of the party. 25-30 guests. I was promised a semi-private space. Everything leading up to the party seemed to be ok., but the execution of the party itself was an utter disaster. This place should be ashamed of itself. First, there is nothing close to private in any aspect about this place. All of us were squeezed into a corner of an obnoxiously loud and crowded bar. The tables were awkwardly placed without any ability for that number of guests to even interact with each other. Even worse, should they choose to get up and and try to interact, we were literally right at the kitchen door, so the constant streaming of wait staff and food made it stupidly impossible. The bar was loud and filled with heavily drinking people. A gentleman in his 50s-60s, who was not part of my party, walked up to my 10 year old daughter and started smelling her hair and telling her how beautiful she was. Some super creepy drunk sh-t.The server was a complete mess. We had a custom cake made for my mom and brought it to the kitchen prior to the party. They never brought the cake out, nor did they warn me or anyone that they would slice it up in the back. They threw a piece of cake at my mom and walked away, not warning to me after I had literally told them 5 minutes before that I wanted the entire cake and I wanted to coordinate so we could all be together and aware and be able to at least sing happy birthday. They completely ruined the moment that at 83 years old we will never get back and dont know how many more we will get to celebrate. This was an absolutley terrible experience from the moment we walked into the place until the moment it ended. I could go on and on. I am so angry. Please avoid this place and never, ever have a "private" party here. I promise you, you will be thoroughly...
Read moreMy friend and I heard about this lounge and wanted to check it out. We decided to make reservations for Friday, Aug 16th. My friend arrived first, and upon checking in for our reservations, the hostess sat her at a table that was "placed" in the middle of a walkway. It was obvious to my friend that they had to make space for our reservations. When I arrived, I told the hostess I was there for a 730pm reservation. She told me my friend had already been seated and it was down the hall. I had to ask to escorted to the table because I had never been there before and did not know where she was referring to. So, she eacorts me to the table and I see what my friend was talking about. We were placed in an aisleway between two tables. We were so close that we could hear the parties conversation. Also, the wait staff kept walking by and bumping into us. The waitstaff also never came and greeted us while we had been sitting there. We noticed a booth had come available and asked the hostess to be seated there. She told us she could not seat us there because we didn't have reservations. It's quite funny, being that we had reservations for 730pm. We reminded her of that, and she then said said we reserved for a table and not a booth. I don't recollect that being an option. Anyway, we ended up leaving and were able to enjoy our evening at the Wine Loft in Southend. I feel the treatment received was because we are women of color. We will not be visiting this establishment again. Do better!!
Response to restaurant.. .....and your response is more of a reason to not visit and tells me more about your business establishment and operations.
Unwarranted and baseless. How can you invalidate ones experience without being there to know what happened? There was no attempt to remedy the situation and I stick to my reasons behind...
Read moreBar One Lounge has always held a special place in our hearts due to its wonderful ambiance and delicious food. Over the past five years since moving to Charlotte, we've frequented this spot more than a hundred times, more than often bringing our guests along. Even our 12-year-old son, who is autistic, has always enjoyed coming here without any issues—until last night.
Our recent experience was, unfortunately, a complete departure from our previous visits. Despite arriving at 9:30 PM, after calling earlier to confirm their first-come, first-served policy for seating, we faced an unexpected and highly disappointing situation. The owner Steven, and Raffay, who were managing the seating that evening, told us initially that we'd be seated shortly after 10:00 PM. However, as time passed, they began seating groups who arrived after us, and by 10:15 PM, it became evident that our wait was being unfairly prolonged.
As parents managing a situation with our autistic son, who finds changes in plans particularly challenging, the extended wait caused him distress, leading to tears. Despite explaining our circumstances, Steven and Raffay showed little empathy or willingness to accommodate us. By 10:45 PM, realizing we wouldn't be seated despite our patience, we regrettably had to leave.
The lack of professionalism and empathy displayed by the staff that night was not only disappointing but also embarrassing. It's disheartening that an establishment we've cherished for so long could leave us with such a negative impression due to the way we were treated. We hope that this feedback reaches the whole management and serves as a reminder of the importance of respectful and equitable treatment of all guests, regardless of...
