DTR SouthPark — Restaurant in Charlotte

How do I go about this? Let's break it down into parts. 1- Looks. Nice, "uptown-ish" local. Clean, well kept and attractive dining/bar area. Patio(actually, front sidewalk terrace) area is a nice choice in good weather. 2- Staff. Well presented, for the most part attentive and well groomed. Manager came by several times, always attentive to our table and other tables. 3- Service. A bit slow, not excessively so. It was pretty full at the time, so this would have an impact. I believe this was an overload at the kitchen issue, and not a server issue. 4- Food. Had a shared appetizer. Brie/prosciutto/apricot on ciabetta bread. Cheese at right "almost melting point", prosciutto a bit crispy(good) and the right touch of apricot. The bread "bed" too hard. Difficult to chew comfortably. I ordered gnocchi. The gnocchi was good, the sauce tasty but a little too heavy. My wife ordered the beef filet. Definitely the star of the night. A beautiful cut, done medium rare. My only complaint? Came with a sauce cover. Good visuals for the plate, but... If you're a beef lover, this very good cut should be served with salt and pepper. Sauce on the side or optional.

Then, dessert was ordered. Disaster. Advertised as a New York cheesecake, came as a shallow, overcooked tart with a couple of spoonfuls of a heavy, dry white something spread over the top of the tart. This covered heavily with cream and a few cuts of fruit. NY cheesecake? Not by a long shot.

After having said this, would I come back and/or recommend? Yes, I believe the restaurant offers a good package and the menu has interesting plates. Prices are mid-level and up, very good bar. Public parking is available, although at peak times could be a little tough to find a space. Thanks for reading. I hope this...

Wow! What a great experience. We love the original location and could not wait to try this new one. Expecting it to be good, we were pleasantly surprised to find out it was over the top. Party of 4 with a reservation for 6:30.

The service was impeccable. Multiple staff members took orders, presented drinks, and prebussed the table. At one point one staff member approached the table and stated “I saw you looking at the menu, did you want to order something”. Like are you kidding me?! Read my mind much! The service was fine dining level.

The food was amazing as well. Everything paired perfectly. Our server recommended shareable items for the table. Out favorites were the pork belly, flank steak, and truffle fries. The cheese and charcuterie selection doesn’t disappoint.

The cocktails were delish with a spotlight stealing presentation. The smoked drinks were consistently presented in the same manner for everyone to get the full experience. We received our drinks very timely after ordering. I had the berry basil refresher with tequila at the suggestion of the server. After, I tried the picante (spicy tequila). The heat/spice was a perfect amount complimented by lime and agave.

The ambiance of the room is perfect for enjoying tapas and cocktails. Easy on the eyes lighting with a beautiful bar and wine room as the focal point. The luxurious couches tie into the relaxed and familiar vibe.

Totally worth the visit. Will return time and time again. I am left with no recommendations for improvement....

My wife and I came here on a busy Saturday night, without a reservation, and were seated immediately at a small table next to the bar. We were greeted promptly by our server Gethan and he talked us through the menus as it was our first time. We ordered a glass of wine and a cocktail. They were out of the wine we chose but one of the managers came over, apologized, and helped us select an alternative.

We started with the Grilled Octopus and the Prosciutto and Brie Flatbread. Both dishes were very delicious and full of flavor. The octopus was cooked perfectly and the flatbread was crispy and had a great balance of sweet and salty. We followed up with an order of their Truffle Fries and Crispy Pork Belly. The fries were crispy and well seasoned and the pork belly was tender and everything a pork belly dish should be.

Our table was very well attended to by our server and the managers. We also loved the decor of the restaurant and ambiance created by the lighting and music. Our overall experience was exceptional from start to finish. We will definitely be back for another date night very soon after having such a great first...
