I went in today, excited to be in a comic store again. Unfortunately, walking in was a nightmare. The store was a complete mess (as it is every single time I come in.) The one older gentleman working today was a complete jerk to all of his customers, he even snatched a figure out of a young man's hands and said "well if it's cheaper online then you can just buy it there!" The staff I actually enjoy seeing is the man with the long pony tail, and the upbeat gal who is more than happy to help anyone who asks. The older man continued to sit back behind the counter eating, completely ignoring everyone, and just being a complete jerk in general. When I asked him how much one of the star wars figures were, he very angrily got up, grabbed the box from my hand (very rudely might I add) and told me the price in a very annoyed way. He completely killed my mood, and the mood of everyone else around him. I will not be coming back to that store as long as he's there, and I strongly urge everyone to either go to pennyworths comics, or heroes aren't hard to find, where the staff is always smiling and friendly, and will gladly have a conversation with you about comic books. (Not to mention, there prices are actuallu accurate, and not over priced like...
Read moreThis amazing little comic shop is hidden away in a quiet, unassuming strip mall setting. But don't let that fool you! Enter and you'll find it has one of the best selections of comic books, graphic novels and toys Charlotte has to offer. There's lots to look at too as literally every corner is filled with some type of nerdy, geeky collectible. Bring lots of money if you're looking to complete your collection. And if you can't find it - you can always ask one of the staff. They're knowledgeable and friendly and willing to admit when you might be better off searching online or at a competing store. I give 4 stars instead of 5 simply because it's not the most organized shop in town. Be prepared to dig a little for some of the hidden jewels. I've been a customer there for years now and I'm certain there are still layers yet to be discovered. In conclusion, if you love pop culture, comics, toys, figures and games... Give Rebel Base a chance. You might find yourself...
Read moreRebel Base was a delightful and nostalgic discovery. The store itself was a little hard to find as you have to go down a flight of stairs and a hallway; however not a deterrent. Upon entering we were greeted by the staff and began a lovely journey down memory lane. The store's inventory was both diverse and rich spanning the gamut of classic toys to modern offerings. The selection of comics were well displayed with promises from the staff to order what you couldn't find.
What really caught my eye however, was the collection of vintage toys. I saw toys I remember fawning over as a child. Despite being small the space was well used; however there were a few distractions from the experience such as stacked cardboard visible from the back and toys that hadn't been stocked yet haphazardly placed in the storage area. These minor blemishes do not take away from the selection or reasonable prices. Was worth the trip and will...
