I had a pleasant stay at The Westin Charlotte. The company I work for had a hotel block since we were attending a conference across the street at the Charlotte Convention Center. Therefore, I wasn’t guaranteed a specific type of room. CHECK-IN Upon check-in, the front desk attendant was friendly and was able to my room keys (including Mobile Key) taken care of. LOBBY The lobby is a lot smaller than I imagined but it looked clean. And they had a coffee shop and restaurant (Dogwood) on the premises. ROOM I made my way up the beautiful elevators to my room, where I was surprised to see 2 queen beds. Again, with the hotel room blocks, we weren’t guaranteed a type of room - I was hoping for a single king bed room so I’d have more space. It was a decent room with standard amenities. I would have preferred a glass door instead of shower curtains but it was fine. I did like the large shower head and the extra adjustable shower hardware. One thing to note is it was a little hard finding the on/off switch for the lamps. BATHROOM They have Scott tissue single-ply tissue paper. I wish they would upgrade to better toilet paper but that’s what you get here. Crumbly, thin toilet paper - yuck. There is, however, a CVS or Whole Foods nearby if you want to buy premium toilet paper. On a positive note, they have shampoo, conditioner, and body wash (also a soap bar, makeup wipes, and body lotion) available in case you forget to pack yours. The vents on the blowdryer in my room was disgustingly filled with dust. Also, personally, I wasn’t a fan of the layout of the toilet to sink - just weird IMO. And the light switch is outside of the bathroom. BED Comfortable. Firm pillows that stay firm. Comforters with duvet cover. Loved the thickness of the comforter and I liked that it wasn’t so hot. EXTRAS They have room-service available; however, it’s a service I did not need during my stay. I did, however, get to have breakfast from the Executive Lounge (3rd Floor). The patio up there is quite lovely. I did use the mini fridge to keep my drinks cold. VALET They have valet parking available here with a convenient round-about. This is the safest spot to have an Uber or Lyft driver pick you up from - as one Uber driver let us out on the busier side of the hotel. SERVICE The service from the staff I encountered were friendly employees. I purchased a bottle of SIMPLY lemonade from the coffee shop downstairs only to see it was past the expiration date! I went down to exchange it and they were very nice about it. I even helped them take out all the expired bottles - yikes! LOCATION What I loved about The Westin was how easily accessible it was to the Convention Center. You can use the connecting bridge from the 2nd floor or just walk across the street. And it is walking distance to many restaurants in Downtown - or what locals refer to as “Uptown”. Overall, I had a restful sleep and my room was clean. I would recommend changing out the toilet paper and cleaning the blow dryer vents. Lastly, I would recommend checking the expiration dates on the products being sold. I guess I expected more from The Westin. Charlotte, however, was a lovely city. 3.5 / 5 stars

My fiancé and I got married at the Westin on Saturday June 6, 2024. We were excited to work with The Westin based on the tour and great information provided by the sales/event manager (Roxie). Of course I had my bridezilla moments, but there were a lot of little things that I did and didn’t like. There were two major situations that truly stood out to me. Let me first highlight the positives. The food/cooking staff are top tier. The security, valet, and housekeeping are the friendliest most personable individuals I’ve met in a while. There were two situations where my fiancé and I weren’t able to make our biweekly payments on time (layoff and unexpected death) and the Westin was willing to push the payment to the next due date. I truly appreciate them for that. Now on to the things that bothered me. One, the event manager attempting to modify the price of the food after I signed the contract and then admitting I signed a contract under false pretense (Danielle). I signed a contract with The Westin in June of 2023. Once a contract is signed we were to receive the food at the price of the contract. The event manager attempted to price our food at the 2024 menu price. After I called it out, there was a back and forth, but The Westin ended up going by the contract I signed. Another thing that bothered me is the several charges on my debit card the weekend of my wedding (17 to be exact). We could only identify 8. When I called The Westin and asked what they were I spoke with Bianca. Bianca told me she didn’t know what they were, but she’d look into it and call me back. She never did. My fiancé and I paid over $20k over food and beverages. I was also supposed to receive a refund of $878.00 for overpayment of the wedding. The refund was initially pending in my account. The following day I noticed the pending credit fell off. The Westin claimed that we didn’t pay for our hotel stay and they would deduct it from my refund check. I sent proof that I paid and I still haven’t received anything. Nonetheless, the Westin is withholding my money and not responding to my emails or phone calls, so I’m going to take it up with my bank. Oh, I never received my Bonvoy points after spending well over $20-$30k at their hotel (including wedding ceremony, reception, hotel stay, room block), but hotel received our money. After my wedding day I was going to give The Westin 4 stars. Now after all that has transpired they get a 2. If it wasn’t for the staff The Westin would receive a 1. (I’ll insert communication between The Westin and myself)

This is the supposed manager of this location. Her name is Nicole. As you can see she’s trying to cover her name tag. Why? I had an Explorer form that had expired. Susan, the associate at the moment, stated that it expired and they would have to revert my rate to normal and charge the full amount. This has happened to me before and the staff was always gracious enough to allow me time to get an updated form and check in. I explained this and she rudely stated that’s how it works here. I then asked her where her name tag was because she wasn’t wearing one. Another failure on management and maybe why she felt so bold. She then smartly suggests she get a manager and I agree. The supposed manager, Nicole, comes and tells me my form is fraudulent and has the wrong name. I asked her to tell me the name on the form and she stated, “I don’t have to tell you that.” To which I stated “ As I thought” because she was outright lying. She then proceeds to tell me she’s canceling my reservation because I was being aggressive. I then asked for the general manager and she refused and also advised her associate to refuse to speak to me and then proceeded to call the police. I have never in my life been treated like this at a Marriott property. I am hurt, ashamed and furious. This young lady has no respect for Marriot or its guests. The hospitality industry has very tough competition and behavior such as hers has no place in a place where guests come to feel safe and welcomed. Her behavior is disgusting and I need to speak to the General Manager asap.

Very good location. Great customer service quick check in was there for a work event. There are many events going on in the venue at the time however customer service is very prompt and attentive . They have recently gone under a renovation that is very pleasing to the eye. The lobby has been redone as well as the restaurant area in the rooms. The rooms are specifically pleasing as you can tell the paint is refreshed the floors have been redone and some, and the beds are called the new heavenly bed and the beds are absolutely amazing! Probably the best beds I've slept on in any hotel I've ever visited ! The rooms are spacious and very comfy. Two queen beds with lots of room. However, with the new beds, they are so big and bulky and fluffy and comfy, it's like you're sleeping on clouds in heaven. But, they are quite close together which leaves a very narrow space for the nightstand area . The bathrooms are very clean the rooms were clean. The hallways and all throughout the hotel was very well kept . However the restaurant in the hotel after eating there. I had wings and my roommate had a burger, a cheeseburger actually and fries we both have fries . I don't know what was in the food if it was old grease or what but it made us both very very sick. Not sure if it was old grease or what but it made us extremely sick! That would be the only rough part about the visit to the hotel the restaurant should make sure that they are cleaning pots and grease thoroughly, because the food made us extremely sick.
