I always come up for the Charlotte Heroes Con and it is worth the drive from Columbia. Plenty of space and it is always well organized. They need to do a better job of letting people know where to park or at least help people who are unfamiliar with the area find decent parking. Also for events like this and the car shows they do, maybe arrange for some food trucks to be close by. The shops across the street cannot accommodate the size of the crowds that come and some of shops have weird hours so they aren't even open the entire time the Convention Center is. Just a thought. Nothing they can do about those shops but a nice alternative couldn't hurt.

My husband and I arrived at the convention center for the MTG tournament. The center is perfectly positioned by many restaurants and hotels. Inside it is very spacious and clean, however, there aren’t many bathrooms.I ended up having an asthma attack, so I wanted some fresh air. Outside they have very nice greenery but terrible benches. It appears to be hostile architecture. I couldn’t sit on the bench for more than a few minutes before it became too uncomfortable. I’ve included a pic of the bench. Not cool. I don’t see how this is compliant with the ADA. Sitting on the ground would be more comfortable.

We’re to start. Convention center all around was beautiful on the inside. Lots of rooms and events going on. This trip was to a collectacon. Little disorganized. Vendors price gouging. Which I know that’s not the conventions fault. Center was clean and well organized. Couldn’t find the bathroom. Lol. The fountain outside needs to be cleaned. Muck everywhere in the water fountain. Park across the street was beautiful. If you ever go here please check the reading park out. Parking was nuts. 20$ for a parking garage. Make sure you have money to come to this place. East entrance and exit in the garage.

The Charlotte Convention Center was probably the most convenient convention I’ve experienced to date.

LOCATION I attended a conference that was held at the Charlotte Convention Center for a work week and was surprised at how close everything was to the convention. It was surrounded by hotels, restaurants, Whole Foods, a CVS, and the NASCAR Hall of Fame. It was easy to get around Uptown from the convention.

INSIDE THE CONVENTION: It was easy to navigate within the convention, too, as the signs were clearly labeled. The only thing I thought was odd were the rooms in 206-212 (where you’d have to go down escalators and then come back up). I would have labeled it a different number sequence so as not to be confusing with the other set of rooms in the 200s.

I loved that there was a bridge that connected the convention to our hotel (2nd floor of The Westin), as well as access from the NASCAR Hall of Fame directly in front of the Crown Ballroom!

CUSTOMER SERVICE & STAFF: Each day during the conference, my coworker and I would walk from our hotel (The Westin, which was across the street) and we would be greeted by the friendliest door greeters / information desk. Also, we went around the Richardson Ballrooms, exhibit hall, smaller rooms, terrace (roof), Crown Ballroom, etc. it was carpeted so it was easy to walk on.

The convention staff including the Food & Service team were really nice and were attentive; they made sure to keep the food area tidy and cleared away trash from the tables. The bartenders serving drinks were organized as well.

DINING OPTIONS INSIDE THE CONVENTION: The convention had other dining options: Starbucks, Bojangles, Einstein Bagels, and another place to purchase food.

Overall, I enjoyed the ease of getting around the convention center, the proximity to hotels and restaurants in Uptown Charlotte, the amenities they offered, and the attentive staff at Charlotte...

Perfect venue for a huge CLT event, due to sheer size. There are space sizes for everyone, now that the building has been expanded. I have never seen the entire building booked upstairs, but the ground level used to be filled with enough cars or boats to fill a city block prior to 2020 event closures.

Check out and plan parking lot options online ahead of time, and prepare to walk for blocks even indoors. The NASCAR parking deck has a catwalk over the street. Average garage parking Uptown is around $20 for the day.

When this venue reopened in 2022, the maintenance, cleanliness, and air quality were in poor shape. In 2023, 20% of the strange rolls of red (carpet?) fiber on the upper floor a year ago still remain to be vacuumed up. The air quality has improved a lot. They'll get there.

Attendance in 2022 is not what it was pre-Covid, but shows are making a come-back. We need increased daily show hours, cut by about 35% in 2022 over 2019 by most shows. If show hours and durations increase, my rating will too. The venue might incentivise it through pricing. It's too expensive and time consuming to use or attend this venue unless the shows are open longer hours.

The venue can help vendors and attendees by not allowing some show promoters to charge vendors well over $100 per hour to have handlers cart their belongings in and out, like it or not. A "union" would behave this way. Vendors can carry and cart their own materials to save everyone money, and have done so for years in the past. Exorbitant add-on fees ultimately cause unnecessary inflation in consumer pricing, making CLT prices skyrocket like those cities many people moved here to...
