Dr Erin Landis Hodges was so incredibly rude and condescending towards me today that I am updating my initial 5 star review. I initially had an appointment this afternoon with another doctor at Tryon Medical who had given me the all clear on a mole that I was there to have checked out. She kindly offered to refer me to a dermatologist for a second opinion if I would like one, and even got me an an appointment with them for the same day so I wouldn’t have to come back. So professional and kind. I went back to the waiting room and responded to a text I received from their office asking me to leave a review. I gave them 5 stars and commented on how friendly and helpful they had been.
An hour later I met with the dermatologist, Dr Hodges, who began by questioning my age and treating me as if I was completely incompetent. I do look younger than my age (36) but I am beyond shocked that this would in any way infer that I am easily talked into any procedure (necessary or unnecessary) without any further thought or consideration.
She recommended that I have a full body biopsy along with a procedure to scrape the mole off my leg right then and there, informing me that it would inevitably leave a large scar on my leg in its place. I thanked her for squeezing me in for this last minute appointment and told her that I would like to talk to talk the procedure over with my husband first. She became very visibly annoyed and responded with, “Well, I would like to think that your husband would care enough to want to have this taken care of right away.”
Floored.
After being firm with her for the FOURTH TIME about not having the procedure done immediately and her being clearly upset about my refusal, she spun around on her heels and left the office without saying another word. I am honestly just so shocked by how unprofessional this interaction with Dr Hodges was today. Everyone else I encountered over the course of the day at Tryon Medical was incredibly friendly, helpful, and kind, which is the only reason I am not giving a one star review.
While I very much appreciate the advice and recommendations of any doctor, I absolutely balk at succumbing to any type of god complex. Truly,...
Read moreMy doctor, who I have seen since leaving pediatric care, recently retired. He sent out an email informing his patients of his retirement. Since then, I received no correspondence from Tryon Medical on how to move forward, which doctors were available, etc. I had an appointment scheduled with the doctor that retired, which they previously asked me to reschedule. No one reached out from the office in regards to how to get my standing appointment rescheduled or who I could schedule it with.
My entire family sees another doctor who works for Tryon Medical. I called the office to see if I was able to reschedule my existing appointment with this doctor. The person who answered the call, Jovyas, was incredibly hostile, unprofessional, and downright rude. He cut me off multiple times, was dismissive and overall made it clear that he was irritated that I had the audacity to call and ask to reschedule my existing appointment because my doctor retired.
He told me that the doctor who saw my family would not accept me as a patient. I asked if it was possible to make any exceptions since my family are lifelong patients, to which he became increasingly impatient and irritated and said the doctor himself says he won't take any of your old doctor's patients so no." I then asked what we could do then, and he quickly said "I will send a link with doctors. Thank you." He hung up the phone abruptly afterward.
While I understand if that doctor is not accepting new patients, the entire process of my doctor retiring was handled horribly by the office. No one from the office contacted me with instruction on how to move forward, and when I called myself to figure it out, I was met with hostility and unprofessionalism. I have had several issues in the past with this office, being asked to reschedule standing appointments and those making the calls are very rude.
This last experience with Joyvas was the nail in the coffin for me, as his conduct was beyond unprofessional.
I am disappointed by the entire experience, and will be looking for a new primary doctor elsewhere. I would highly recommend seeking healthcare elsewhere if you want organization, respect, and...
Read moreFinding the office /parking deck was stressful. I parked in the wrong deck. The office personnel were friendly but busy doing several things at once. I was called after a very short wait to see Dr. Pierce, by her assistant. She was masked. She seated me in an examining room, took my vitals, and explained that Dr. Pierce would be in shortly. In a very short time Dr. Pierce came in. She was masked and wore gloves. She spoke to me and seated herself in the room. She did not tell me anything about herself. She asked me why I had selected her as my doctor. I explained that my daughter had recommended her. She looked over my paperwork and asked me several questions about my general health, remarking positively regarding my having received all 3 Covid shots. I explained that I suffered chronically from migraine headaches and recurring UTIs, and believed that I needed medication now for the latter. Dr. Pierce directed me to go to the lab with her assistant, advising me that if I did in fact have an infection, she would send a prescription to my pharmacy. She also said I would be contacted regarded the results. I found Dr. Pierce to be efficient and professional. I was contacted by Jeffery from your office to follow up with me re the prescribed medicine. The medicine proved to too hard on my stomach. I conveyed this fact to Jeffery, who let me know that my lab work showed I had had an infection. Also, Dr. Pierce said I should stop the meds.
That is the last I have heard from your office. I have not heard anything further from...
