From the moment we checked in, the staff went above and beyond to make our stay excellent! It began with the King size bed I had reserved not being available, and being offered a reduced room rate by Miss Shelly was manning the desk. She informed us of all the amenities offered and their locations. She let us know about the breakfast and surprised us with the social hours and benefits for after work. (I traveled for a Work Cloud Summit in a neighboring building at and my husband tagged along as a friend was in the area too.)
Breakfast was so well done! The food was really good for hotel food in my experience, but what put a smile on my face each morning was the (not sure of her name) short order cook who makes eggs. Her joy in her job is obvious as she sings to guests that they can have whatever they like and breakfast is ready type things to guide guests and make them feel welcomed in. Her sunny personality has you smiling listening - even if you don't order eggs, but the fried eggs I had the send and rest of the time and the omlettes hubby had tasted so good, she really did a great job cooking them! I enjoyed having breakfast before walking over to the office for the meetings so much!
401 Social was great! the bartender Miss Suei was another brilliant point in Hilton's favor! She was very friendly, courteous, and made the drinks we asked for exactly the way we asked (I like my margarita with the salt IN the glass, not dripping down the side of it as the ice melts haha) She really took care of us each nigh we were there. We didn't always make it for the after work complimentary drinks and snacks, but I did enjoy the bar at night after long full days.
The room was very clean and completely surprised me being basically a suite with a small living room and dining/desk area. My husband worked from the hotel during the day (we both normally work remotely in our jobs) and used the do not disturb sign in case he was in meetings etc. Housekeeping was epic and emptied the trash can he put outside the door for him, and were very efficient and did a great job when we left it off the door. (No idea how that is handled, but they cleaned when it was down during the day.) I enjoyed the chaise lounge on the couch while he and I sat discussing the day.
The last night I was enjoying the bar area and the lit fire pit on the patio and decided to go grab my ipad to relax and read while hubby was out with our friend. I forgot my door key after I grabbed the ipad. The desk agent instantly coded me a new card when I explained what happened (sadly I didn't catch their name), (I had ID as my iphone case is a wallet too), I ran up, grabbed my key, and brought the other back.
You would think that would be all of my wonderful experience of impressiveness at the Embassy Suites in Charlotte, but checkout day I still had meetings until right after lunch, the desk agent Ron said my hubby was welcome to work down in the lounge work area and we could have the valet get our car, bring it up to load it, and put it back!
All I can say at this point, is you better be paying your staff really well. Their attentiveness, friendliness, and love of their jobs MADE this experience what it is. Taking them out of the equation even, in comparison with my stay in August at the Westin and comparing basic amenities Embassy Suites is the better hotel, hands down! - the Westin didn't even have a microwave in the room! They did have a Starbucks but the restaurant was being renovated. The hotel was difficult to navigate without walking a mile between street level and your room easily too. The staff was great, just nothing stood out as above.
Adding the staff back in to my review of the Embassy, they made the visit priceless and incomparable because of the experience.
Well done indeed! Every time I come to Charlotte for work, you are my only choice now, bonus it's a 2 minute...
Read moreI frequently travel for work and I only use Hilton Resorts because of the excellent customer service and overall great experience I have had. This time, unfortunately, this was not the case.
It started with me trying to check in online using the Hilton Honors app which did not work. Subsequently I spoke with the receptionist at the front desk who explained that the elevators require you to have a physical key to scan before selecting your floor therefore all the guests are required to do their check-in at the front desk and that is why the Hilton App did not worked. Ok, I understand that.
Next, I asked the receptionist if the resort offers room service and their hours. Her response was, that room services is available some days but not every day. Then added that it actually is available every day but on some days it may take longer for “deliveries” to get to the room.
So far in other Hilton resorts you can communicate with the staff using the Hilton Honors app. Which is great and helpful, especially when busy with work at the room. Someone is always checking on you to make sure you have everything you need for your stay. Sadly this wasn’t/ isn’t the case this time and at this resort! When my long busy day came to an end, I asked for extra pillows, blankets, and a room service menu because there was no menu in the room. At first I tried using the Hilton app to let the staff know what I needed. I waited one hour. No response, no one answered…so I decided to call the front desk. I was put on hold multiple times. Finally the receptionist tells me she doesn't have additional copies of the menu. So I suggested and asked to possibly send me a picture of the menu, thinking that she will be using the Hilton app….but no. She actually proceeded to asked me for my personal cell phone number to send me the picture. I did not like that. I certainly did not feel comfortable sharing and texting with a member of the Hilton staff via personal cell phones, just to get a copy of the menu!
The room service menu is very small and simple and I decided to visit a restaurant close by after all this mess.
When I returned, I noticed that I forgot to purchase a couple of water bottles for the stay. So I called room service 3 times but it kept transferring me to the front desk. After the third time, I asked the receptionist if she can take the order for the water I needed. To which she responded that they have water available at the front desk. Which is nice, yet I am on my room?? I asked if someone could possibly bring it to my room. “I don't think so” , was her response? What?! She continues that she will check with the bar and put me on hold. When she returned, she only said, “no, we have water at the front desk”. I informed her that this isn’t helpful for me in any way, thanked her and received a “you’re welcome” back…. Sadly, I have only been in this resort for 4 hours and so far the experience is horrible and very disappointing. Very dissatisfied to...
Read moreCommon Area / Bar:|The hotel was always clean, even with so many of us being there for our Mary Kay Seminar. The public restroom was clean too. The bar area was intimate and always clean. I really enjoyed talking to Nate and I forget his colleague's name. She was pleasant as well. If you find yourself here, ask Nate to make you his signature drink that tastes like a green apple jolly rancher!!!! ||Bedroom:|The room was spacious. You entered the living room/dining room when you walked through the door. There was a decent sized wet bar that served as the "kitchen". As you walk down the hall towards the bedroom, you'll pass a hall closet and the bathroom. The bathroom was a decent size, but two people couldn't be in there at the same time. There's only one sink and the toilet isn't in it's own space. I really liked the shower; it's big enough for two people.||As you enter the bedroom, it is spacious, but there's not enough lighting for me. The closet was large enough to hold my luggage; I had a carry-on, a large suitcase, and an duffle bag, and the few items I did hang.||Breakfast:|Meh! I've had better. This wasn't what I'm used to from an Embassy Suites. I ate breakfast elsewhere.||Arrival/Departure:|Both check-in and check-out were a breeze. I extended my check-out time because I had a late flight out. I had to make the request twice, but that was explained to me beforehand by the receptionist when I called to inquire about it. He was only able to give me until noon; anything later required me to wait and then inquire at the front desk.||I'd like to add that when my Uber arrived to take me to the airport, Steven assisted with putting my bags in the car. I truly hated that I didn't have cash (I don't carry it) because I wanted to tip him for his kindness. The Uber drivers are the ones who put our luggage in the trunk. I really appreciated Steven for helping!||Location:|The hotel is within walking distance of the Convention Center and I believe that was the Nascar Hall of Fame that's across the street. You're also in walking distance to other attractions and restaurants in the city. I walked 15 minutes to some art museums and some restaurants. ||At night, there is one street that seems a bit sketchy, but I felt safe during my time in the Queen City. I walked the streets at night by myself coming from different restaurants.||Value:|It was a bit pricey, but the price hike was due to our Seminar being held there. It's not worth $300+ per night, but I'd book here again when prices are typical.||Recognition:|Again, I'd like to shout out Steven who works valet and Nate who is...
