I attended an Ash Wednesday mass while out of of state for work. I did love that they had a sign guiding you into the church, sometimes this can be difficult to tell if you’re not an active member of the church or, in my case, an out of town visitor. Overall, I’d come again, but there was a couple of items worth noting as feedback. It was a bit difficult to hear the priest who was a bit older and even the readers at times. This was because all sounds and movements seemed to echo and distract. I’m used to my home church that has a missal booklet to guide you through the service. While I did not require this, I did want to mention this as I could see this being a deterrent for newcomers or those who may not attend service frequently. Maybe I missed where one might of found it, I’m not sure. Additionally, there was a couple of gentlemen by the entrance that I presumed to be ushers but I was personally not greeted by as they seemed to be in discussion amongst themselves. Again, I’m just used to friendliness and a simple hello upon entering at church. Small differences, but...
Read moreThis is my second time here at St. Peter while visiting Charlotte. The first was back in 2019. I came with my mother this time and was very excited to be back visiting. I believe it's proper to be campassionate towards everyone no matter what but that doesn't extend to blaming inoccent people for the state that others are in. I have never heard a more political homily given in any church ever. The deacon here was attacking people verbally in the crowd for their skin color and blaming it for the results of others. It was a borderline communist regime and I have never seen someone so rude. I was quit apalled for such actions to be taking place at a church where we all come to gather in peace. A place were we can love or respect eachother no matter what. This was sadly not the case givin the homily received this day. It was shocking and disappointing for a leader of the church to not be respecful and curtious to all. It is the first and hopefully last time I will (and other people) walk out of a church due to racism and a lack of respect...

Together we are "universal" in accepting people of various cultures, languages, faith traditions, and social and gender differences. All are welcome...
