Well first off , I stayed two nights prior at the Indigo hotel two blocks down who set the bar for high expectations ( the rate was $119 through Priceline with valet parking in a secure parking lot) at the Hilton Garden Inn , I arrived from a four hour backup on the interstate around 930pm . I checked in and asked the front desk about parking “she across the street and here let me give you a permit so you would not get towed ( sounds like complimentary) , the parking area was not secured and I parked myself and was charged 18 dollars the next morning and never told there was a charge. Room 607 sounded like a freight train was riding off the rails and vibrating the floor , after a 45 minute wait for a return call I was finally moved around midnight across the hall which wasn’t much better but by this time I was just needing sleep . 800am with a no disturb card on my door was housekeeping . When I didn’t answer she opens the door and closed it ! Never apologized for waking me , 930 am she did it again ! The card was clearly on my door to donot disturb. Finally I just got up and turned the air on for the room had reached a balmy 75 degrees with nothing running and dust blew out the vents and this horrible smell of mold was what I encountered. So finally went for breakfast five minutes away only to arrive back to the parking lot that was full of discovery place event people ! No parking at all so what was the 18 dollars for ? No one could tell me . When I took the air filters down to the front desk ( I was told no reason for me to be rude ) I wasn’t rude I was truthfully frustrated and disappointed. But she continues to tell me that I need to take my issue up with Expedia and not the hotel because I paid them and not Hilton ! Nonetheless I will not stay here again and have ask Hilton corporate to file a exploratory internal investigation why this hotel continues to have what seems to be maintenance concerns and sketchy hidden charges. Also the mattresses were not at all hotel quality , not even close , the pillows felt like the crappy stuff the “ my pillow guy would sell “ where did this hotel get its stars because thy need to be stripped of...
Read moreThe GOOD stuff: Great location. AMC across the street, the aquarium, IMAX theater, shops, and restaurants all within walking distance. We consider ourselves as pretty lazy people, but we enjoyed walking around because there are many trees lining the streets and sidewalks.
The room is spacious and clean. Good water pressure in the shower (big plus). Housekeeping was great. Chip was a great employee as almost all the employees except maybe one lady at the front desk who didn't acknowledge anyone walking by.
NOT so good stuff: You pay $18 for parking every day. The hotel shares the parking lot with the children's attraction next door, so parking may be full at times, but there was always availability when the attraction was closed in the afternoon.
Breakfast is not free. It's $15 per person no matter how much food you put on your plate. There is no waffle maker. No pancakes available either. Omelettes may have an additional charge.
Why are the hand soap & lotion bottles so high on the wall? Also, the hand soap should be the first bottle with the lotion behind it. I wish there was an extra towel bar to hang your hand towels (see photos for suggestions).
Laundry Room: It costs $2.50 to wash and $2.50 to dry. The other Hiltons we've stayed at only charge $1.50. The washing machine doesn't have an automatic dispenser for detergent, fabric softener, and bleach. No problem because you can just add your detergent to your clothes. However, the rinse cycle consists of water being sprayed at your clothes and it spins. It does this for 4 minutes, then goes into a final spin cycle and your clothes are done. No opportunity to use fabric softener. On the good side, you get 45 minutes to dry your clothes. My clothes were dried within 22 minutes on medium heat, so you can dry two loads for $2.50 if you time it right.
Despite my little grievances, overall, this is a nice hotel. We would come back if we're ever in...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a hotel in downtown Chattanooga, avoid the Embassy Suites by Hilton Chattanooga Downtown. Our experience was awful from start to finish.
We arrived at 4:30 p.m. to check in, only to be told that no rooms were available, despite a line of families also waiting for rooms that wouldn’t be ready until 8:30 p.m. or later. We waited two hours and finally had to call the front desk just to get any response. The staff begrudgingly gave us a different room at 6:30 p.m., which was not an upgraded suite in any way.
While chaos unfolded in the lobby, bar staff stood by watching instead of helping frustrated guests or serving drinks. There was no visible management presence, no communication, and no effort to make things right for the dozens of guests waiting.
When we left and returned later that evening — after being unable to stay in the lobby due to lack of seating — I tried to use the drink chips we were given for the managers reception on soda. It was after the Manager’s Reception, but since we couldn’t even check in until after it ended, I assumed they’d at least honor the chips for a soda. Instead, I was told it would cost $5 for a tiny cup of Diet Coke. Completely tone-deaf.
Once we finally got to our room, the air conditioning barely worked. Two maintenance workers came up but couldn’t fix it. They were kind and apologetic, but by then it was almost 9 p.m., and there was nothing more they could do.
For a Hilton property in downtown Chattanooga, this was a terrible experience — unprofessional management, poor communication, and no accountability. I would recommend staying anywhere else — the Westin Chattanooga, Hotel Indigo, or the Read House — before wasting your time and money at the Embassy Suites Chattanooga.
Edit- The manager reached out and refunded our points...
