Update and changed level of stars: My advocate at the American Breast Cancer Foundation was able to get the information from their very kind and helpful billing manager. Still puzzled why they couldn't give it to me and why the other person I spoke to was so unhelpful.
I went there this morning for a mammogram. The mammogram tech did a wonderful job with my mammogram, so no complaints there!
Prior to the appointment, I called and emailed multiple times to ensure that they would accept my grant from the American Breast Cancer Foundation (ABCF). I let them know I had no insurance and was a self pay patient. They assured me they would accept the grant and told me the self pay rate.
The office needs to send the bill and a tax form to the ABCF. They asked if I wanted a copy of the bill this morning. I said yes, and the gal who gave it to me, folded it up first before handing it to me which struck me as odd as no one has done that before. But I was then sent back for my mammogram and did not have a chance to look at it.
Once home, I unfolded a bill for $542. I was shocked as the self pay rate is either $99 or $149 depending on the mammogram. I emailed first and was told not to worry about it. I then called to get the corrected bill and was told point blank by someone in the office that they would not give me this bill because I had not paid it yet. I explained that ABCF needed this bill, and she told me that their instructions did not state that.
I have been a self pay patient for over 10 years with a variety of medical practices and even hospitals in Phoenix and Chattanooga, and I have never had any medical office deny giving me an itemized bill, whether I had paid that bill yet or not. I was honestly shocked by this behavior.
My representative at the American Breast Cancer Foundation will call their billing manager and keep me updated. I hope her efforts come through, and I am able to use my grant for this mammogram.
Wanted to share my story in case it's...
Read moreSitting here with the girlfriend. She was called back and I attempted to go back with her. The lady that called her back. Told me that I could go back and sit down in the waiting room. Mind you, my girlfriend asked me to come back with her. It didn’t matter. While I’m sitting here waiting. The check in lady was talking to someone. She just told him to have a nice day. As in a get the hell out of my face, kind of way. He still had questions. So he repeated himself. She gave a short answer. And told him to have a good day yet again. However this time, he was in the middle of another question when she did it.
They call someone else back. Another desk person asked the person call back. To hold the door for someone else that was called back. This person was in a wheelchair. I’m this case. The person who called the one person back. Didn’t even try to get the door. For the person in their wheel chair.
This is my second time dealing with people from this Prime Imagining from this location. My first time I was at an urgent care. The urgent care forgot to send a prescription. So I was waiting for it. The person from Prime came in with a gift basket. Came right up to the desk. Where I was waiting. To talk to the people there. They more or less pushed me out of the way. And asked for the NP that was working. She straight up told them that they would wait there until they were seen. Didn’t matter that I was already there before them and waiting. I even over her mad the lady suggest the urgent care to send people to them. Therefore to me. This said gift basket is an attempt at a bribe to them.
The people from this location are some of the rudest “professionals” I’ve ever dealt with in my life.
My girlfriend just came out and told me the person who helped her aw also not friendly either. Also did not get her name and date of birth. Before she started the imagining. My girlfriend is a FNP and definitely knows the process before any...
