Friendly staff, but…..
There was a knock you in the face smell as you entered the gym. I honestly wanted to turn back and leave but gave it a chance anyways since we drove from aways to give this gym a try. We climb regularly at the other gyms in STL and have never come across such a smell.
They must not account in their budget for renovations and upkeep, nothing in that place seemed to be maintained well.
Days after visiting the gym I would have flash backs as if it was some nightmare, but unfortunately it was real. I kept thinking to myself if this was the only climbing gym in the mo area I would have probably never kept with it. I can only imagine how unhygienic the rental shoes are alone🤢.
I do want to mention, this review is solely based on the smell and dilapidated facility. There were a few fun routes and the staff were chill.
I guess when the other gym is in st.charles and you have no competition in that area, there is no need to try and keep things up to date.
Nothing was mentioned to the staff, though it’s not like they could have done anything. This smell is clearly embedded into the...
Read moreThis new location is awesome. They have new Incredible meds that allow you to Boulder with no harness to a little better than 15 feet.
They obviously have every skill level you could imagine here as well of his classes for kids to get into rock climbing.
At this location they have installed an entire kids room that has the auto belay on every course. The room itself is awesome. They have rock walls that you can climb. For the very young they have spider webs and easier walls to climb. They even have a pile of Cubes that you could just make anything you want and try and climb on top of it. It's a good bridge between those who are you too young to rock climb and those that can.
Pay a fee and you can be in the room for an hour doing whatever you want and you get to take yourself on and off belay. There is technically no minimum size but I think it's under 45 pounds will have a harder time enjoying themselves with the auto belay. It's constantly pulling the autobelay rope in your face. This place is great for my seven-year-old but my four-year-old doesn't quite...
Read moreAn excellent service staff at this location, they are knowledgeable and polite. There are a variety of bouldering routes here. Beginners through very advanced climbers will be able to enjoy it. I'm very new to bouldering and there were several routes that even I could do. There is a fitness area upstairs with machines, free weights and many different finger and hang boards. It's an excellent training area. There is an area for children to climb as well, although for an added cost and climb time is paid for by the hour. Locker rooms are clean and spacious. There are some sport climbing routes, but there are short and mediocre. No lead climbing routes. The Maryland Heights location is great for sport and lead climbing. The only thing that is super annoying is the amount of birthday parties that are scheduled here on the weekends. It gets super loud, hard for my kids to get a good climb in, and just crowded. Call ahead if that's an...
