Me and two friends went to watch a movie late Tuesday night. It cost $35.50 to see a movie with a large popcorn, large drink, and 1 adult ticket. Which I understand having to cover overhead plus staffing plus stock and rent on the building. But, when I asked for extra butter, I was told by the manager that they couldn't give me extra. I offered extra money and was told it was a supply issue and that they were short on butter in the store. Which again, I understand that mistakes happen and sometimes management messes up on ordering enough product to supply the customer with what they need for an enjoyable experience. However, halfway through the movie, I went to get a refill on my popcorn. The cashier told me that the popcorn machine was turned off and being cleaned. To which I gestured to the 30 gallon clear bin of popcorn setting next him and asked if I could have a refill from that. After pondering for a few moments he still didn't answer so I asked to speak to the manager. The manager came out, refilled my popcorn, dowssed it with butter (defying the great butter shortage) and was ready to send me on my way. I asked to buy a box of bunchacrunch and the manager said "sure", but when I went to hand him my money he told me that they couldn't take cash and threw his arms up in a blocking notion. Which means that this manager with a fully staffed movie theater counted his cash drawers over an hour before close with the intent of making any more sells before the end of the night. Not to mention that their "bar" was closed by 930, 15 minutes before our movie started, so we couldn't even have a drink before our movie started and we weren't even given a time frame for the possibility of a chance to offer drinks from their "bar" in the future.
All in all, I'd give this place negative stars if I could and with there being 5-6 other theaters within 20 minutes of this location, I would advise to take any other choice possible. Radford and Fairlawn have some humble, cozy, and old fashioned theaters. Blackburg has a theater with friendly customer service and all the amenities. Plus there's a drive-in in Christiansburg. Do not waste your time or money on this facility that Regal cinemas clearly...
Read moreUpdate 2023: It's a very nice environment to watch a movie. Love the recliners with personal trays. There is plenty of room, even if packed. Very pricey snack bar. For water, 2 small drinks, a medium popcorn, and a small bag of candy, you will spend around $40. I suggest purchasing tickets online for popular movies.
It was a nice movie theater, but we never, actually, got a seat in any of the multiple rooms. It was completely packed, and all seats were reserved/taken. It's been years since I've been, so I was unaware of the way the theater worked. You buy tickets through digital means. Pay is credit, debit, or gift card. I would suggest buying tickets online. I had one in line ordering food while I went to grab tickets. By the time I realized there were no seats, the food was paid for. We walked out with just under $40 of snacks. A large drink, popcorn, hot dog, and nachos (to give you an idea of cost). There is a bar within the theater. My adult children have been several times to the late shows (10 pm) and had no issues with getting seats. They love the comfortable, reclining seats. I must admit, I was highly disappointed that we made the drive and purchased unnecessary snacks. Lesson learned. I will say that the staff was super nice and helpful. Great place to go--just make sure you plan ahead, especially for big box releases like Maverick and...
Read moreUsed to love coming here. Today I encountered a very unsettling and rude employee. I hate to leave this sorta review because I love this place, but I feel I need to speak up. The lady I encountered at the food stand was extremely rude and short with me. When my food was ready, she threw it down on the counter and walked away. I don’t know if you have cameras, but it’s very visible how aggressive she was. While I was waiting for my food, I could hear her gossiping and angrily “venting” to other employees about my order. I did not want to talk to her so I approached another employee inquiring about how to order a beer for the movie. He directed me to the bar. Unfortunately, the same rude lady angrily walked out to the bar. She very rudely asked “what do you want?”. I was extremely embarrassed by her manner. I work in customer service. I 100% understand how frustrating it can be. But this was just down right uncalled for. I’m thinking about calling whoever their corporate is and complaining because that was very awkward and embarrassing to have to deal with her. I also watched her treat another customer very badly while I was waiting. I frequent this theater often, but will reconsider going back to avoid having to deal with her again. I come here to relax and unwind, but she caused the opposite. I will cancel my rewards and drive to...
