ProTechs Advanced Electronic Repair Center — Attraction in Cincinnati

I am so happy with my repair to my iPad pro 4th gen. For some reason i was not thinking when i made the purchase of the ipad and didn't buy apple care. Less than six months later i dropped the iPad face down on my stone/tile floor. Of course the screen was shattered. It still worked if i wanted to get tiny shards of glass in my fingers. I attempted to use the Geek Squad where I purchased the iPad and was told there was nothing they could do except file a warranty claim since it was less than a year old and apple would replace the iPad at the out of pocket cost of a brand new iPad. I was floored. So I hand you back my damaged iPad to file a warranty claim and apple would send me a replacement but it would cost me out of pocket what I paid for the iPad in the first place???? I asked the tech sales rep at the chain store could i go to a third party for a repair and did he know of any place. He recommended YBWF electronics repair store right up the road from the chain store. He did stress doing so would void my warranty but as far as I could see my product warranty wasn't doing me any good as it was since I refused to pay full price for a replacement from apple.

When i showed my iPad to the counter clerk at YBWF and asked if they take the new generations iPads for screen repair and was told no they do not has they had no luck with the repair. I was mad at myself and disgusted that I now a $1500 piece of equipment that will now be a paperweight. I decided searched google for iPad pro repair and other than the current store YBWF where i was sitting in my car in their parking lot, the next listing to from my google search was- Protechs Advanced Electronic Repair.

I called the next business day. All i was asked was the model number on the back. Once i gave the model number i was assured "sure yeah we can do that repair. just bring it in. We will need to order the screen. it will take about 7-10 days." I was asked if I had any wires showing as this would make the iPad unsalvageable but I fortunately did not. Long story short. the cheapest route would have been for me to purchase the applecare, and a screen protector. But since I didn't Protech Advanced saved me about grand and I couldn't be happier. The iPad works great and I have no issues or complaints. The repair was completed in less than 10 days as promised. These gentlemen are friendly, professional, and most important competent.

I realize I just received my iPad back so I am only in day three of having the repair completed but I have to stress that even if the iPad was to quit working or have issues, without the applecare I my only option was to pay the cost of a new iPad. Any additional use out of my repaired iPad...

Took my laptop there for service in june of 2018 because i was having unwanted pop ups. got my computer back and was told it was fixed got home same thing was happening that i took it in for. was told to bring it back that everything would need to be uninstalled. dropped it back off, then i thought i need my data saved. so i called and talked to Terry and told him, i'm coming back to pick up my computer because i need to save my data. he told me don't worry about it we will save all your data. went to pick up my computer and all my data was erased. you have to be kidding me. i was assured and told that protechs would save my data. terry told me they could recover all my lost data. then got the owner cleo involved who was working on my computer to recover my lost data. they had my computer for close to a month, when i got it back, a lot of my lost data had not been recovered as promised. what the most upsetting was, i had pictures and videos of my grandfather and grandmother who had just passed earlier in the year on there that are now gone forever. none of this would have happened had they let me come and get my computer and save my own data when i called and said i was coming to get it. saying that they forgot and it was a mistake is UNACCEPTABLE and UNPROFESSIONAL. then to have my computer for that long period of time and still not recover all my data. i called and spoke to terry 3 different times and left messages for the owner cleo to call me and my calls were never returned. what kind of business that will not return your phone calls? i know why, because they didn't want to admit they couldn't recover all my lost data as promised. what a huge MISTAKE i made by taking my computer there. i wouldn't recommend their business to anyone who need computer repair service. you live and and learn. This business scammed me by charging me for an unauthorized service and then demanded payment for work that I never gave the okay for. They also never asked me what the issue was that I was having and assumed very incorrectly about prior damage that had occurred more than a year prior. My computers worked perfectly after those spills because I was able to do a cleaning of them all those months ago. Their forced cleaning of my computers didn't resolve my issue at all because my actual issue was electrical issues we had been having in our home, and if they had asked me what problem I was having with them in the first place they would have known this and could have earned their money legitimately instead of scamming me for it.

I ended up having to pay them $150 just to get my computers back with the same exact problem. The issue wasn't with them at all but was with the monitors. If they had spoken with me we could have figured this out before this unneeded cleaning service was forced upon me to pay for. I signed up for a free diagnostic and then he called to tell me I owe $69.99 per computer. What a scam!

The front desk gentleman is very nice, but the actual repairman is a scammer. They also won't refund me the money! So now I have to buy new monitors which is more than $150 on top of the forced cleaning fees! Unbelievable! This is shady business and they shouldn't be allowed to keep scamming people.

At first I gave him the benefit of the doubt and thought this was only a misunderstanding, I reached out very kindly to explain all of this and ask for my money back. They only ignore me like I don't exist anymore. Of course, because he knows...
