5/10/25 - Fire & Ice - Citrus Heights
5/5 Stars - Allow me to explain why:
I was looking for a little extra cash and I wanted to get rid of some old games and consoles that were taking up space in my closet. I decided to call Fire & Ice and see what their procedure was for selling goods and they said that walk-ins were available. Even though I showed up halfway through the day on a Saturday they were more than happy to help me and process all of my goods.
When I called in, I also asked if they had a cart or something that could help me carry in multiple boxes and although they didn’t have a cart, JESSE (remember that name) said that he could help me. I told him I was about 5 minutes out and he even met me outside to help me carry everything in.
Ok… stay with me here - I find myself writing a novel of all of the amazing and wonderful things that I experience at the store so let me just go ahead and try and summarize it in a bullet point format.
I was mesmerized but the absolutely stunning artwork both inside and out of the shop. The murals were beautiful!!! JESSE went out of his way to help me carry in my boxes. I was given real expectations of the time it would take to process my goods. I was assured that I would receive the best value possible. I was acknowledged by multiple members of the staff and although I was browsing the shop in multiple areas. I was approached multiple times, asked if I needed anything and the staff was engaged when I found myself going down memory lane seeing old games, etc. The shop was clean, well put together, well organized, unique, and artistic. The staff ended up exceeding time expectations when processing my goods and offered me a great value for everything. My jaw genuinely dropped when I heard what they were willing to offer me for my goods. I truly feel like I got the best value just like JESSE told me that I would. The games and consoles themselves were beautifully preserved. Everything had an outer plastic wrap to preserve each game at the highest quality possible. You can clearly tell that the team values their products and they spared no expense to ensure the best quality.
5/5 STARS - I definitely recommend this store to friends and family. There were multiple families visiting today and you could tell that everyone had a great time during their visit.
Special shout Out to JESSE and the entire team working this afternoon. Y’all are a great representation of how a fast clean and friendly business should operate.
Thank...
Read moreOkay let’s start on the good side. Really nice building, presentation and clean with that said let’s get into the REAL review…
I have been here about 2-3 times a month since they opened and have purchased multiple items mainly Pokémon cards. Some workers are really nice and respectful with no pressure and really just trying to help which how great customer service should be and I know that since I work in sales as well. There was a tall young male worker with long hair that just gave me weird vibes. He was too pushy in recommending items I was not looking for. I know my Pokemon cards / chase cards but he kept pushing high end items even though I respectfully answered that I’m ok because that’s not what I’m looking for and don’t have the budget for those. He then proceeds to say..
“All we NEED is MONEY, Just GIVE me your MONEY” very rude imo and maybe he was just thinking out loud and didn’t realize I heard that. So I went to the other side to stay away from him because I’m really looking for some singles but a few minutes later he comes back right in front of me on another display case and I can feel him looking directly at me trying to push items again. With that said I never really minded the stores outrageous mark ups due to the “market price” and demand, They also charge for the top loaders that came with the cards which was scratched up btw.. what a joke. I get it I’ve been collecting sports cards and Pokemon for years but it really shows maybe how the establishment pushes sales goals to the employees hence his remarks. After that day I’m NOT coming back to the store, I really tried giving them a shot but please there are more local card stores better than this place. Parents as well please heed my warning if you are shopping for your kids go somewhere else than this place or atleast do your research because there are plenty of trading card stores that are fair and respect customers. PS I didn’t get the cards in the picture from this store I am using it to make this review standout...
Read moreI've visited this card shop around 5 or 6 times, usually staying for about 4 hours each visit, really trying to give it the benefit of the doubt. The space itself looks great and has a lot of potential: it’s clean, organized, and visually appealing. But every time I’ve come in, I haven’t been able to find a pod or even one person actively playing Magic. Which end up feeling lonely and a bit uncomfortable, especially when you're looking for a community to connect with. As a Magic player, I kept hoping it would click but so far, it just hasn’t for me. The pricing is also on the higher side, which adds to the disconnect. I leave not feeling excited or fulfilled, and that’s tough when you really want to like a place.
If you’re looking for strong community and fair pricing, I’d genuinely recommend Cory’s Cards and Games just down Sunrise. Cory not only offers better prices, but he’s deeply involved always helping players build decks, ordering cards, and making sure people can find pods and play. You walk in and feel welcome.
That said, I truly hope Fire and Ice grows into the place it has the potential to be. The staff are friendly and the store is visually impressive. I want to see it succeed. This is just my honest experience as a Magic player. I encourage others to check it out and see for...
