East End Garage — Attraction in City of Rochester

While there were plenty of spaces on First Friday, April 6, we had tons of trouble getting out. The gates wouldn't work, and we tried to pay 3 times. There was no indication that payment was received (although it was charged to my credit card all three times) and the gate wouldn't lift until we paid cash. In addition, my card was hacked, and the bank and authorities believe it happened at this garage; there may be a skimmer on the card reader. I called the garage to let them know, and was referred to the Parking Bureau, where I only got a message to leave a message. The criminal is the person who put the skimmer on the credit card reader, but if the garage and the city don't check to be sure that they are removed, then they are also compliant. I would give 0 stars if I could. Ownership of this garage changed in January and now the U of R owns it. Do not waste your money parking here if you are paying for a monthly parking pass. They charged me for a whole month when everyone else could park for free and they are refusing to refund me. I’ve had to file a BBB complaint in order to try to get my money back. On top of how unethical they are, the gates hardly ever open automatically for you even when you pay for the monthly pass and I used to end up taking a ticket to get in most of the time and having to call for help when I leave because the gates do not operate correctly. Whenever they have special event parking and you have a membership, they wave you through which means the gate doesn’t register you coming in which means you cannot get out due to your entry not existing. If this happens you need to go to the security office, but if no one is there, you will be stuck in the garage until they come back. In addition, the customer service number is discontinued so you can’t even call someone to come get you out. This would be an incredibly easy thing to fix yet they have not shown any signs of rectifying any of these issues.
