GTFO Escape Rooms Rochester — Attraction in City of Rochester

Part of a small group that has done a dozen or more escape rooms, including an 80's themed room in Virginia that inspired us to try this room. We were ultimately left disappointed. We arrived 10 minutes early, but waited nearly 25 minutes to start our room. Once we were able to begin, we managed to blow through the first 20 minutes or so before hitting a wall. We got stuck on a puzzle box that wasn't aligned and didn't open with the right inputs. We also got hung up on a puzzle where you pretty much just had to guess what the creator was thinking when they made it, and we required a clue to even begin to move in the correct direction.

We got to the end and opened up the last locked box with 5 minutes to go, and we were presented with a 14(!) page booklet and a blacklight... that didn't work. Someone came in and got the light but we didn't get it back. The timer ran out and we were told that we were done. Then they realized they had started us late and said they'd bring the light back and we could finish, but the thought of going through 14 pages of instructions and being already 10 minutes over was too much and we called it.

I don't mind hard rooms if they are both fair and well done. We all felt that this room was unfortunately neither. I can't recommend this room, and we have had more fun at other...

Such a bummer. I was visiting my sister for her 35th birthday and we were really excited to do the Escape the 90s room on 7/13/24. Our reservation was at 8:00pm. We got to the building 20 mins early but no one was there. The lights were off and door was locked. We waited for 30 mins and eventually left after calling and emailing multiple times reminding them about our reservation, and then asking for them to call me to discuss either rescheduling or a refund. I completely understand that emergencies happen, but no one ever called with an explanation or acknowledging that they hadn’t been able to fulfill the reservation. I waited until after they opened the next day to see if someone would call or email but they didn’t. I then had to call again and finally someone answered. They didn’t offer much in the way of an apology or explanation. They did however refund my money quickly so that was the one positive. Unfortunately too unreliable of a business to consider rebooking...

We did the Escape the ‘90s room and it was really fun. In most escape rooms we tend to run out of steam and get stuck after being on a roll for a while. Here, this was not the case. When we did run out of steam it was only for a minute or two and then we solved a puzzle that immediately perked us back up again. This is probably the best escape room I have ever personally done, even if it took us only 36 min to solve it (with no hints, no less!) Our game master Zach was also really kind, and sealed the deal on this being five stars. Some people might prefer an opening cutscene or some exposition, but I like it more where you are put into the game essentially blind, which is what happened here, so no complaints from me! A truly well made...
