Ulta Beauty — Attraction in City of Syracuse

Decided to have my curly hair straightened here before flying out of town for a wedding in August, which I had done once before for another occasion last year with no issues. The woman who did it this time was very nice and asked if I wanted to add on a "deep conditioning" treatment, which I hadn't done the time before but I said sure to. My hair came out VERY straight and silky and lasted all weekend, which was great until the next time I washed my hair and noticed a significant chunk of hair right in the front of my head had barely any wave to it, let alone curl, anymore. A few months and several treatments of all kinds later and these straight pieces haven't improved, and they look very obvious and weird against the rest of my curls and very different from the new curly growth that has come in at the top of my head. I recently got a professional curly cut elsewhere and that didn't help them either, and the stylist there said she was very surprised that that much damage occurred from just one straightening session and said it was probably due to some relaxer that was put in my hair. I put a lot of time, money and effort into my curls, so this situation has been incredibly frustrating since these straight pieces make my hair look significantly worse no matter how good of a hair day I'm having, and I can't really do anything besides wait for the damage to grow out and continually...

I came in the first week of May. I went in for a color and haircut. The girl I had was sweet but very apparently inexperienced. It took nearly 40 minutes just to decide how she was going to color my hair because she was waiting on a more experienced salon stylist to help advise. The color came out okay but she ruined my hair with the cut. I have 2 layers of hair now, both of which are uneven and choppy. The top layer isn’t even long enough to keep in a pony tail.

The appointment began at 1200 and I didn’t leave until 430 that afternoon. I tried to remain positive but the look of horror from both another hairdresser and client across the table while she was finishing my hair kind of said it all. The last experience I had with Ulta was fantastic but $350 for color and cut for this wasn’t worth it. I haven’t had this bad of a haircut since high school. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to this salon for anything but beauty products.

Customer service wasn’t great either. While waiting in the checkout line, I heard two separate encounters with who I assume was the floor manager about how some of the sales associates were outright rude or...

This is my Go To salon, the staff, management, and especially the stylist are all top tier. Especially Miriam who quite literally saved my hair yesterday. I had cheated and went to another Ulta salon where the stylist completely messed up and damaged my hair, the management was rude, and the stylist did not know what she was doing. I was told by the other Salon Ulta is not a good fit for me and to go back to Miriam which is what I did. I decided to go back to Miriam to see if there was anything she could do for me to save my hair? She was beyond helpful, she reached out to corporate for me and got my hair to exactly where I wanted. She is fabulous, sweet and takes time to listen and plan and talk through all steps. I will place the picture of the before and after.
