Let me start by saying this store has great items and it’s pretty well kept & organized. It’s gotten much better over the last 4 years as far as cleanliness goes. The staff is also courteous and I’ve never had any issues aside from what I’m about to explain. The reason for the 3 stars is because items that I’ve purchased, that are on the receipt, are not in my bag when I get home. Twice now this has happened and it’s quite frustrating. These instances involved items that are less than $8 so of course I’m not going to call and make a fuss about it. And even if I did, it’s all hearsay. The first time this has happened I had brought it up to the cashier during checkout and they made it seem like I was lying….over a $4 eyebrow liner. At that point I’m not even trying to ask for my money back, but more so letting the managerial team aware of the mishap. Because I know it’s hard to prove whether or not I took it out of the bag myself and lied about it. Again, it’s not like I’m looking for any compensation but some kind of correction in the way the cashiers bag the items would be gladly appreciated because I would really hate to be one of those crazy shoppers that checks their bags before walking out of the store. I’d like to continue to trust that the staff will bag the items that I’ve purchased correctly and not misplace them to who knows where. It’s not the monetary value of these items that’s of value here, it’s the principle of the matter. As a consumer who uses their own money to purchase something, I’d expect to receive that item - regardless of how much that item was. But seriously this is happening one too many times for me to not...
Read moreI came here to shop, Sunday August 17th at 8 PM, and had some troubles during checkout. I asked the cashier about the price of a top, so he took it to his manager. He also took with him a pair of Coach shoes. I wasn't sure why, but I figured that it was due to the yellow clearance tag having scratch marks on it. The blonde, older lady manager kept my items for 10 minutes, and the nice young man working the cashier only brought back my top. That was great, but they still had the shoes. I told them it was a good idea to give the shoes a new tag in case I wanted to return them. He says, "Oh! You want a new tag?" and he goes back to his manager, who is still inspecting the shoes and tag. Not sure what they were even doing with the shoes in the first place. The guy apologized for the wait, but didn't explain what was happening. After standing there for 20 minutes, I figured maybe the shoes had the wrong tag, and then I thought they might accuse me of tag switching. At the end, the manager and cashier walk to the register together, and he tells me that a new tag couldn't be made. That was fine, but the manager gave me a weird stare, didn't say anything, looked at the cashier, and told him, "Do you understand now?" and she looked back at me before walking away. An apology from the manager would've been appreciated. Instead, I got a weird, borderline dirty look. Anywho, TJMaxx, encourage your managers to use personable social skills, please and thank you. PS: She definitely thought I tag-switched, because when I looked at the receipt, it was rung up as a different, yet similar, item... not my fault, but I received this unfortunate...
Read moreI attempted to make a return for an item that was purchased for my daughter for Christmas by a family member. Without the receipt or gift receipt, i was fully expecting a store credit (which would allow her to pick out a replacement gift). At the front of the store is a sign that states their holiday return policy which states all returns must be made by January 23, which i was well within. I was told that the item would could not be returned because it was holiday themed and I didn’t have a gift receipt or receipt because they had already zeroed out the Holiday merchandise from the floor. When I explained that the written policy doesn’t state that nor does that make sense (because then if i had the receipt, they would take back the merchandise even though the holiday items had been cleared), i was told it was policy. I asked to speak to the manager and was denied. Really poor customer service if you can’t follow your own rules and...
