This gym is pretty nice. It's a bit pricey (even if you use employer benefits, it still tends to be pricey; which is what I did)
It's decently clean, maintained by the nice and upbeat owners and other staff. Personally, I have extremely-bad anxiety (possibly the worst in NJ) and I manage to get in a good workout here. Late nights are typically empty, and the app has a perfect gauge of "busy-ness".
I just wish there were more information on how to temporarily store stuff in lockers, couldn't ever manage to figure how to unlock and lock one.
The staff are caring, but the "classes" and "fitness consultation" are a way to upsell you; it seems worth it at first glance, but it's out of my tax bracket to determine further :-/ I had a consultation with my boyfriend and one of the trainers. They focused on good form and general sets. It was very nice, but then we got an obvious salespitch for "classes". If you can afford it, I would go for it; but we can't, so we couldn't.
The equipment here is very "gym"... There's the dedicated machines for specific muscles to be honed on. Everything works perfectly fine. I really like this equipment, however, you would have to know how to use the equipment beforehand, or you would have to download an app to access how to use the equipment. The pictograms on this type of equipment are helpful, but can't do everything here.
If you're a beginner, this gym would take a minute to get used to due to the learning curve, but once you overcome that, the availability of the specialized equipment is much better than PF or another commercial gym.
There's less cardio equipment than typical commercial, and thank GOD. There's enough to support the members at the gym and still have some space, but NOT overly like most commercialized spaces. You could definitely do some rounds of exercises (set x reps; time under tension; etc) and still have space to do cardio.
There are bands, balls, dumbells, kettlebells, and mats to do stuff with (there's a lot of this type of stuff too, i just don't use it to determine quality)
The bathrooms are clean. There's some trash always in the cans but for a gym that serves 4 towns (CS, FV, EW, NB) it's bound to happen. The showers exist, but I don't use them to comment on them. I really like using them as a composure space to "lock in".
Parking will NEVER be an issue. The owners chose a prime location in this regard because Cliffside Park municipal parking is right below the gym, on the right of the centre. It's always empty and typically cheap to park in.
For late nights, I really love this gym. I can't comment on the day part, but otherwise, this gym is very nice. It's pricey, and contracts in general suck, but this gym...
Read moreAMAZING GYM!!! I joined October 2018, and it has truly been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I've never attended any other gym but I'm pretty darn sure other gyms don't stand a chance to what Anytime Fitness has to offer. Sign up! You won't regret it, I promise! Still on the fence? Here are some deciding factors for you: Owners, trainers and members are all super friendly. The moment you walk-in you're greeted with a smile and as time passes by, you basically become family. Always surrounded by a super supportive team! New equipment! You may think the gym is small (compared to other gyms) but they have everything you need. I have yet to walk-in and ever have any issues because there's not enough equipment/space. Who wants to go to get sweaty at a dirty gym? NOT ME. This gym is always so clean! And the individual bathrooms (WITH SHOWERS) are clean too! BUNCH OF CLASSES you can take and enjoy! There's Code Purple (a group training class and my favorite), Yoga, Zumba, and spin! Given at different hours and days so you're bound to be able to join without a problem. And they accommodate to ALL FITNESS LEVELS. Group training not your thing? Then there's Personal Training with one of the trainers! Whom are all well educated in this field and will help you reach your fitness goal, whatever that may be. (One of the best decisions I made to up my fitness gainz!) Sore and need some relax time? Try the Hydro massage! OPEN 24/7!!!!!! No other gym in town has 24 hour access all year long. No need to work around the gym's schedule. Go whenever you please!
What other reasons do you need?!...
Read moreI am a woman who has gone through the wringer, physically and mentally during the past year. I thought, "I'd better find a gym to help raise my spirits. I figured an endorphin rush is going to have to fit the bill since I can't afford jail time for street drugs. That was a joke.
This part isn't a joke-Initially, I went to the biggest gym with the Giants sign on Rt. 17 to check out first. I thought the fact that they had a pool would motivate me. I met their sales agent, a lovely lady who offered me a day pass. The gym is not near me but it sure is immaculate and chocked with machines. However, it was highly impersonal, and the desk staff was so off-putting, I couldn't join. You know, the "just can't be bothered working while I'm at work" types. After that day pass from hell, I looked for the best reviewed gym near me.
Anytime Fitness was the clear winner.
My husband and I were treated like family as soon as I walked in. Intelligent sales tactics, no pressure at all, but thoroughly explained by Jessica and Mike. The gym size is perfect, everything you need is there. If you like owners that are not pretentious, who are warm, compassionate and can make direct eye contact, this is your gym! Mike, Adam and Rod are already my heroes. And, they get my jokes!!! The equipment is well-maintained and everything is immaculate. It's a small gym, the trainers are so kind and quite frankly, hot. The entire staff is a lot deeper than a bird bath which makes them enjoyable to talk to. The price is right, the fact that they're PRESENT is a lost art. They actually make me feel better about the future. Both mine and the...
