Adjacent to or combined with Taylor Park (of Cocoa / Cocoa Village, not to be confused with the Taylor Park in Rockledge).
The old Taylor Park section is mostly a playground area, shaded by live oaks or something similar. Some benches and a couple of picnic tables as well, mostly shaded.
Cocoa Riverfront Park provides restrooms, a sand volleyball court, an open-air amphitheater where there are sometimes performances, and a play fountain for kids (begins to work at 10AM -- set on a timer; you press a button; showers available on each side). There is also an extensive riverfront boardwalk that connects to to Lee Wenner Park, which is predominantly a marina / boat ramp area.
It's all rather pretty, and some of the walkways around the park are covered / provide some shade.
Regarding parking: a local told me that if the closer-in spots fill up, you can park at Lee Wenner. I did notice a decent amount of parking at Lee Wenner. To get to Lee Wenner, you may have to go around. A lot of the local streets are one-way but also provide parking (with good access to local eateries and artisan shops, for those interested).
Regarding concerts / special events: I believe that you must purchase tickets, likely in advance. We've never been there for a concert, but they have signs with info when an event is planned. Worth a trip if you're in the...
Read moreWhen to go see the Violent Femmes concert here everything was fine at first we realized you could not bring in a chair and we knew we could only bring in one bottle of water as long as it was sealed and they were very good about telling you that at the entrance but absolutely nothing on any website for purchasing tickets we are just used to the way they do it after Daytona Beach Bandshell. The real problem was security and no care about slam dancing and belligerent patrons. During the concert an unruly and very loud fan behind us berated my 14 year old daughter for filming and nearly got his butt kicked but he calmed down after seeing me. Two women decided to push their way against us smoking pot and cursing and yelling at my girlfriend and daughter. Again no security help. Then the man in front of us jumped up and down like a clown all over their feet and after repeatedly being told to stop continued and became even more ridiculous jumping around with his hands in the air until I got close enough to him to separate him from them. Both security people looking but not caring. We left. Completely ruined what should have been a nice time for me and my family. Just ridiculous. Terrible security. If I could get my $200 back for my 3 tickets I would certainly...
Read moreThis place went through a major update since the last time I visited. What a wonderful way to invite new members into its community! The area hosts events - been to vendor events in the day, as well as concert in the evening. The area is clean- trash cans placed strategically around the area. There's an open grass area if you are looking for a place for your dog to run or simply bring a blanket for a picnic and a playground for the exploring little humans! There's a covered walkway to protect you from the dog days of summer and excruciating heat as well! Located in a central area, you can visit all of the local shops of the Main Street easily. In fact, you should! From meal options to ice cream to a theater and boutiques selling local artists' works. Parking could be a bit of a challenge, however. Park in the public lot near City Hall for stress free access. It's better than going around each block searching for a spot - unless your local store has dedicated parking! The waterfront area has some car parking however, most are reserves for trailer parking for the boat ramp- understandable!
Nice area to spend an afternoon and support the local community. Be sure to check on monthly event flyers posted in the windows of...
