The Fat Donkey Ice Cream & Fine Desserts — Restaurant in Cocoa

The ice cream here is amazing. However the atmosphere was awkward as there was no music playing and we could just hear the worker’s TikTok videos playing on her phone. The bathroom was out of toilet paper and paper towels. When someone asked her if there was more she didn’t say a word and just changed them then went back to her business. My MIL asked for napkins and the worker said “they’re down there” and my MIL informed her it was out. She restocked them but there was also only 2 spoons left in the holder right next to it so you’d think she’d fill that too but did not. I asked if the s’mores jar was available as I could see there was only one in the fridge and couldn’t tell which. She went to check the back and there was one in the freezer she grabbed. Again, you’d think she’d stock the jars since there was only one but just went back to watching videos on her phone. I totally get that it is probably lonely working by yourself all day and if things were done then I’d just shut my mouth and go about my business, be in your phone if you want, but I feel like things should be stocked and clean before you get...

The ice cream came out melted. I acknowledge that this is Florida and it is hot. However, the ice cream was melted and dripping down the cups when it was handed to us through the window. The ice cream that was still somewhat solid in the cup tasted good but overall it was a total mess to eat. Eventually, we became frustrated with trying to eat it so we threw it away. Looking in the service window, it appears that the covers are left off the ice cream during busy service hours leading to half soupy ice cream. The line moved genuinely fast and the ice cream came out fast so service wasn’t an issue. Flavor wasn’t necessarily the issue either. The atmosphere was fine but the seating area was covered in melted ice cream and the napkins were very thin which made cleaning up impossible but there was access to a bathroom to wash our hands. The establishment was also very clean and well-maintained. It provided a comfortable and refreshing escape from the heat. I enjoyed the cool atmosphere. The treats were delicious.
