I've been going here for a few years now and while it used to be excellent, it's been steadily going downhill.
I'll get down to the nitty gritty. I went last week for the first time in a long time and it was a total disaster. Waited at the front door for a while until anyone acknowledged us and offered a table, this took about 5 minutes. Sat at the table for about 10 minutes until a waitress finally came over and asked for our drink order, we also wasted no time and put in our food order. About 15 minutes later we finally got the soup we had ordered, it wasn't bad but nothing note worthy. By this point our drinks were empty and we waited, and waited, and waited. The two sushi rolls we had ordered finally came about 35 minutes later along with a water refill.
To start on the main course, there was only the green top soy sauce, and barley enough to splash a little bit into our our two sauce trays. I looked at the tables around us for more but there was no soy sauce to be seen, I figured I'd put the empty bottle on the edge of the table in hopes that a waiter/waitress would see it and bring us more, but nothing. I would have asked our waitress when she was presumably coming back to check on us, but she never came.
The sushi was poorly made and poorly cut. It wasn't wrapped very tightly and the cuts were all at an angle, like they had used a dull knife. It had a very bland taste, about what I'd expect if I could get sushi at a fast food restaurant, except a fast food place wouldn't take almost an hour to make it.
After our long wait and lousy food I was ready to leave, still no sign of our waitress so I put my credit card on top of my wallet in a very visible place on the table, next to the empty soy sauce bottle, in hopes of speeding up the bill. It still took almost 10 minutes until a waiter acknowledged us and brought us the check. We did finally end up seeing our waitress but after we left, outside smoking a cigarette.
I'm giving this two stars as it was once good and I've never gotten food poisoning. But, at the end of the day, the food isn't what it once was, and the service...
Read moreMEANEST WAITRESS RUINED OUR EXPERIENCE. We stumbled upon Thai Thai cocoa village, seemed like a nice place, we walked in January 2022, and was greeted by the hostess, a tall, long blonde and sat us. She wasn't super friendly, at first, but just wait, it gets worse. She passed out our menus, and I ordered the chicken and vegetables, "Volcano" and it came completey deep breaded, no tempura, almost like a caked breaded filling. I asked her I must have not read the description giving the menu the benefit of the doubt, that i couldn't eat the breaded chicken. She snipped at me and said, ITS IN ENGLISH. It says tempura breaded. I asked for the menu, and that particular item was not described as tempura, or breaded, or fried at all. Then she proceeds to go back to the kitchen and we can hear her talk badly about us, saying "IT WAS IN ENGLISH" she should have known. I brought the dish up to the kind sushi chef which seemed shocked at her behavior because he could then also hear her say, "DOESNT" SHE KNOW ENGLISH" in the back. I said I dont' want this meal, and the other waitress came out and she was like can we get you anything else, so she was nicer but OUR WAITRESS kept at it, speaking at the bar about us again, "OH SHE DOESN"T EVEN WANT TO TAKE IT TO GO!" and she wouldn't let up. It really ruined our experience. I can't believe the sushi chef and the other waitress wasn't dying of embarrassment. I will never go there again, it was just a complete horrible experience being shamed because of the menu description and then questioning my English and comprehensions. She...
Read moreWent for the first time around 5PM on Friday. Light crowd at first, but steady stream of customers came in, with a near full house by the time we were finishing.
Despite the activity, service was great - friendly and attentive staff and we had both appetizers and entrees with almost no wait time.
The food was delicious and gorgeous - you can see in the photos the care that was taken for an appealing presentation. And some very skilled knife work - the cucumber slices in the appetizer are almost transparent with delicate cuts.
Nice portions; we definitely had some take home bits at the end. And as a nice touch, the containers were actually watertight - if you’ve ever had a leaky styrofoam tray full of sauce covered take home food, you’ll appreciate that detail!
Food: I ordered the Sister Roll (pictured) for the appetizer - Salmon, Avocado, Scallion and Masago with thin Cucumber shell and Ponzu dressing. Beautiful and a near perfect mix of taste and texture.
For entree, I got the Sea of Love Roll (pictured). It’s a Spicy roll with asparagus, avocado, scallions, masago, seared tuna, crunchy flakes, and specialty sauce.
Great sauce. Would buy a bottle if they sold it at checkout. Again absolutely amazing look, glad I remembered to get the photo before diving in.
If you’re waiting for the “but, unfortunately” at the end, there isn’t one. Loved everything from start to finish, and am looking forward to trying quite a few of the other items on their huge menu. Uppest of upvotes,...
