Village Pump Liquors — Attraction in College Park

One star. After shopping here over 20 times, this visit was the last.

We bought a bottle of vodka for cooking, and the cashier (a woman) put a bag on the counter, then stared intensely at the security monitor behind us, saying she had to watch for shoplifters. No one else was in the store, and the monitor showed no one. She kept her eyes glued to it the entire time, half-engaging as we made polite conversation about it. Only after we left did we realize she’d charged us 25 cents for the bag—using the monitor as a distraction. This isn’t a lot of money, but I felt disappointed because I tried to relate to her situation and talk to her about it and was duped. We’ve spent plenty of money there - and she lost us over .25 cents. I won’t...

This store is great! I came in because I read about this place via the "ratebeer" app. I live a plane's ride away so I can't quite attest to whether their prices are lower than anywhere else, but they aren't outrageously high or anything like that. The craft brew selection is great and varied. Some chilled, some not. Plenty of bombers for those into that size. Didn't catch his name but the guy on staff at the time was very knowledgeable about the craft selection in stock and just crafts in general. Really appreciated that!

I used to come here a lot some years ago but had fallen off with moving away from nearby and having other options, but this week I was in the area and needed some beer. This place is tiny and crowded but they absolutely compete with just about any store in the area in both fair pricing and the sheer number of available beers.
